Psalms Chapter 81
Shout it out for God, our power! Let’s vibe and drop some hype noise for the God of Jacob.
[To the chief Musician upon Gittith, {A Psalm} of Asaph.] Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob. {of Asaph: or, for Asaph}
Pick up a psalm and bring that dope timbrel, that sweet harp with the psaltery. This is about to be fire!
Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.
Blow the trumpet on the new moon, during our feast day, it’s time to get lit!
Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.
This was a command for Israel, straight from the God of Jacob, no cap.
For this {was} a statute for Israel, {and} a law of the God of Jacob.
He established this in Joseph as a testimony when he was in Egypt, and I peeped a language that was kinda sus.
This he ordained in Joseph {for} a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: {where} I heard a language {that} I understood not. {through: or, against}
I took off his shoulder from the load; his hands got released from the pots.
I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were delivered from the pots. {were...: Heb. passed away}
You called for help when things got rough, and I showed up; I responded in the thunder’s secret spot: I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah.
Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah. {Meribah: or, Strife}
Yo, listen up, my folks, I’m about to testify: O Israel, if you just vibe with me;
Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;
No foreign god should be in your midst; don’t worship any sus idols.
There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.
I’m the Lord your God who brought you outta Egypt: open your mouth wide, and I’ll fill it right up.
I {am} the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
But my peeps weren’t trying to hear my voice; Israel was like, ‘Nah.’
But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.
So I let them chase their own hearts’ desires, and they walked in their own vibes.
So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: {and} they walked in their own counsels. {unto...: or, to the hardness of their hearts, or, imagination}
For real, if only my folks had listened to me, and Israel had followed my paths!
Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, {and} Israel had walked in my ways!
I could’ve easily wrecked their enemies and turned my hand against their foes.
I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.
The enemies of the Lord should’ve bowed down, but their time would’ve been eternal.
The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever. {submitted...: or, yielded feigned obedience: Heb. lied}
I would’ve fed them the best wheat and filled them up with honey from the rock.
He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee. {finest...: Heb. fat of wheat}
