Psalms Chapter 73
No cap, God’s got major love for Israel, especially for those keeping it real in their hearts.
[A Psalm of Asaph.] Truly God {is} good to Israel, {even} to such as are of a clean heart. {of: or, for} {Truly: or, Yet} {of...: Heb. clean of heart}
But fr, I was about to fall off; I was losing my grip.
But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.
I was lowkey salty about the foolish when I noticed how the wicked were flexing.
For I was envious at the foolish, {when} I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
They don’t have to stress when it’s their time; they’re just vibing hard.
For {there are} no bands in their death: but their strength {is} firm. {firm: Heb. fat}
They aren’t dealing with the same mess as the rest; they’re not bogged down like everyone else.
They {are} not in trouble {as other} men; neither are they plagued like {other} men. {in...: Heb. in the trouble of other men} {like: Heb. with}
So their pride is like a chain; violence is their whole aesthetic.
Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them {as} a garment.
Their eyes are lit with abundance; they’ve got more than they could even dream of.
Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish. {have...: Heb. pass the thoughts of the heart}
They’re shady and spit mad game about oppression; acting all high and mighty.
They are corrupt, and speak wickedly {concerning} oppression: they speak loftily.
They’re out here dissing heaven while flexing on the ground.
They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
So, God’s crew keeps rolling in; they’re swimming in blessings.
Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full {cup} are wrung out to them.
They’re like, “How does God even know? Is the Most High really clued in?”
And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?
Peep this, these wicked folks are thriving, stacking serious dough.
Behold, these {are} the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase {in} riches.
For real, I’ve been cleaning my heart for nothing, washing my hands like it’s all chill.
Verily I have cleansed my heart {in} vain, and washed my hands in innocency.
Every day, I’ve been hit with struggles, and each morning feels like a reality check.
For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning. {chastened: Heb. my chastisement was}
If I spill this tea, I might lowkey upset your kids, no cap.
If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend {against} the generation of thy children.
When I tried to make sense of this, it was straight-up rough, fr.
When I thought to know this, it {was} too painful for me; {too...: Heb. labour in mine eyes}
Till I hit up God’s crib; that’s when everything came into focus, ya feel?
Until I went into the sanctuary of God; {then} understood I their end.
For sure, you set them on shaky ground; you tossed them right into disarray.
Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.
They’re like, poof, gone in an instant! Completely wiped out by their fears, no joke.
How are they {brought} into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.
It’s like waking from a fantasy; so, Lord, when you wake up, you’ll peep their vibe.
As a dream when {one} awaketh; {so}, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.
My heart was lowkey aching, and I felt it real deep, no cap.
Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.
I was acting straight foolish and clueless, like a wild beast in front of you.
So foolish {was} I, and ignorant: I was {as} a beast before thee. {ignorant: Heb. I knew not} {before Heb. with}
But fr, I’m always with you: you got my back, holding my hand like a true ride or die.
Nevertheless I {am} continually with thee: thou hast holden {me} by my right hand.
You’ll steer me with your wisdom, and later, I’ll vibe with you in the spotlight.
Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me {to} glory.
Who else do I even have up there but you? Nobody on this earth vibes like you do.
Whom have I in heaven {but thee}? and {there is} none upon earth {that} I desire beside thee.
My body and heart might be weak, but God is my true strength, my forever homie.
My flesh and my heart faileth: {but} God {is} the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. {strength: Heb. rock}
For real, those who ghost you will fade into nothing: you’ve cleaned house of all the fakes.
For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.
But it’s all about the vibes for me to stay close to God: I trust in the Lord, ready to shout out all your dope works.
But {it is} good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.
