Psalms Chapter 74
Ayo God, why you acting like a ghost on us for real? Your anger's really heating up against your crew, no cap.
[Maschil of Asaph.] O God, why hast thou cast {us} off for ever? {why} doth thine anger smoke against the sheep of thy pasture? {Maschil...: or, A Psalm for Asaph to give instruction}
Don’t sleep on your people, the ones you snagged ages ago; that dope spot on Mount Zion where you vibe.
Remember thy congregation, {which} thou hast purchased of old; the rod of thine inheritance, {which} thou hast redeemed; this mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt. {rod: or, tribe}
Hit us with your presence and peep the chaos; the enemy’s been acting wild in your house, fr.
Lift up thy feet unto the perpetual desolations; {even} all {that} the enemy hath done wickedly in the sanctuary.
The haters are roaring in the crowd; they’re waving their flags like it’s a flex.
Thine enemies roar in the midst of thy congregations; they set up their ensigns {for} signs.
Some dude was known for taking axes to thick trees, that’s some major rizz.
{A man} was famous according as he had lifted up axes upon the thick trees.
But now they’re just trashing your designs with axes and hammers, just savage.
But now they break down the carved work thereof at once with axes and hammers.
They lit up your sanctuary, straight up dissing your name by wrecking your place.
They have cast fire into thy sanctuary, they have defiled {by casting down} the dwelling place of thy name to the ground. {They have cast...: Heb. They have sent thy sanctuary unto the fire}
They're like, 'Let’s team up and take them down': they’ve torched all the holy spots in the land.
They said in their hearts, Let us destroy them together: they have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land. {destroy: Heb. break}
We can’t peep our signs anymore; no prophet around to drop the timeline on this struggle.
We see not our signs: {there is} no more any prophet: neither {is there} among us any that knoweth how long.
Yo God, how long will these haters keep talking smack? Are they really gonna disrespect your name forever?
O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever?
Why you keeping your hand back, even your strong one? Pull it out already, fr.
Why withdrawest thou thy hand, even thy right hand? pluck {it} out of thy bosom.
God’s been my King from day one, saving us down here on earth.
For God {is} my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.
You split the sea with your firepower; you smashed dragon heads in the waters, that’s lit.
Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength: thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters. {divide: Heb. break} {dragons: or, whales}
You tore Leviathan apart and served him up to the wilderness crew, that’s goated.
Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, {and} gavest him {to be} meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness.
You opened the fountain and the flood: you dried up the heavy rivers, no cap.
Thou didst cleave the fountain and the flood: thou driedst up mighty rivers. {mighty...: Heb. rivers of strength}
The day’s yours, and night too: you set the light and the sun, periodt.
The day {is} thine, the night also {is} thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sun.
You laid out all the lines of the earth: you made summer and winter, that's straight facts.
Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: thou hast made summer and winter. {made: Heb. made them}
Keep this in mind, that the enemy’s been running their mouths, Lord, and the fools are trashing your name.
Remember this, {that} the enemy hath reproached, O LORD, and {that} the foolish people have blasphemed thy name.
Don’t let the soul of your turtledove get tossed to the wicked crew: don’t forget your struggling squad forever.
O deliver not the soul of thy turtledove unto the multitude {of the wicked}: forget not the congregation of thy poor for ever.
Remember your promise: the dark corners of the earth are full of cruel vibes.
Have respect unto the covenant: for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty.
Don’t let the oppressed go back feeling ashamed: let the poor and needy uplift your name.
O let not the oppressed return ashamed: let the poor and needy praise thy name.
Stand up, God, and defend your cause: remember how these fools come for you daily.
Arise, O God, plead thine own cause: remember how the foolish man reproacheth thee daily.
Don’t forget the voices of your enemies: the noise from those rising against you just keeps getting louder.
Forget not the voice of thine enemies: the tumult of those that rise up against thee increaseth continually. {increaseth: Heb. ascendeth}
