Psalms Chapter 55
Yo, God, peep my prayer and don’t ghost me when I’m reaching out for support.
[To the chief Musician on Neginoth, Maschil, {A Psalm} of David.] Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication. {chief...: or, overseer} {Maschil: or, of instruction}
Show up and listen: I’m feeling hella down and making noise over here;
Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise;
It’s ‘cause of the enemy’s vibes and the wickedness aimed at me, throwing shade and hating hard.
Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.
My heart’s feeling heavy, fam; death’s got me shook.
My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.
I’m straight-up scared and trembling, like horror is taking over me.
Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me. {overwhelmed: Heb. covered}
Honestly, I wish I had wings like a dove so I could just bounce and chill.
And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! {for then} would I fly away, and be at rest.
For real, I’d vibe far away and just kick it in the wilderness. Selah.
Lo, {then} would I wander far off, {and} remain in the wilderness. Selah.
I’d be gone fast from this wild storm and chaos.
I would hasten my escape from the windy storm {and} tempest.
God, just mess them up and scramble their words; I’ve seen way too much drama in the city.
Destroy, O Lord, {and} divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.
Day and night, they’re lurking around the walls, bringing all this bad energy and sadness.
Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow {are} in the midst of it.
Wickedness is all up in that place: deceit and shady moves never leave the streets.
Wickedness {is} in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets.
It wasn’t just some random hater coming at me; I could’ve dealt with that. It was someone close, though, and that hit different.
For {it was} not an enemy {that} reproached me; then I could have borne {it}: neither {was it} he that hated me {that} did magnify {himself} against me; then I would have hid myself from him:
But it was you, my equal, my homie, my ride-or-die.
But {it was} thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance. {mine equal: Heb. according to my rank}
We used to vibe together and roll to God’s crib as a squad.
We took sweet counsel together, {and} walked unto the house of God in company. {We...: Heb. Who sweetened counsel}
Let death snatch them up, and let them drop quick into the pit; wickedness is their home ground.
Let death seize upon them, {and} let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness {is} in their dwellings, {and} among them. {hell: or, the grave}
But me? I’m calling on God; He’s got my back.
As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me.
Evening, morning, and noon, I’ll pray and shout; He’s gonna hear my voice.
Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.
He saved my soul in peace from the battles coming my way; I had a whole crew with me.
He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle {that was} against me: for there were many with me.
God’s gonna hear and handle them, the OG who's been around forever. Selah. They don’t change, so they don’t fear God.
God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God. {Because...: or, With whom also there be no changes, yet they}
He’s turned against those chilling with him; he broke his promises.
He hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant. {broken: Heb. profaned}
His words were smoother than butter, but he had war in his heart; his words were soft like oil, but they were like hidden daggers.

Cast your worries on God, and He’ll lift you up; He won’t let the righteous fall.
Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. {burden: or, gift}
But you, God, will bring them down to the pit of destruction; bloody and deceitful peeps won’t even make it halfway through life; but I’m putting my trust in you.
But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee. {bloody...: Heb. men of bloods and deceit} {shall...: Heb. shall not half their days}
