Proverbs Chapter 6
Ayo, homie, if you’re covering for your boy, and you shook hands with some stranger,
My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, {if} thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,
You’re straight-up tangled in your own words, no cap.
Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.
Handle this right now, my dude, and rescue yourself when you’re in your friend’s hold; just chill, stay humble, and check in on your friend.
Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend. {and make...: or, so shalt thou prevail with thy friend}
Don’t be sleepin’, keep those peepers open, fr.
Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.
Bounce like a deer escaping a hunter’s clutch, and like a bird slipping from a trapper’s grip.
Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand {of the hunter}, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
Check out the ant, you lazy vibes; peep how she rolls and get educated:
Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
She’s got no boss, no overseer, or ruler,
Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
But she’s loading up her snacks in the summer and gathering her grub during harvest.
Provideth her meat in the summer, {and} gathereth her food in the harvest.
How long you gonna keep snoozin’, fam? When you gonna wake up from that nap?
How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
Just a bit more snooze, a little more chill time, a little folding of the hands for some z's:
{Yet} a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
Your struggle gonna sneak up like a traveler on a mission, and your needs gonna roll in like a squad armed to the teeth.
So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
A sus dude, a wicked bro, strolls around with a shady mouth.
A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.
He’s winking with his eyes, flexing with his steps, teaching with his hands;
He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;
Deceit’s in his heart, he’s always scheming chaos; he spreads bad vibes.
Frowardness {is} in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord. {soweth: Heb. casteth forth}
So his downfall gonna smack him outta nowhere; he’s gonna be shattered with no fix in sight.
Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.
These six things the Lord can’t vibe with: and seven are straight-up cringey to Him:
These six {things} doth the LORD hate: yea, seven {are} an abomination unto him: {unto...: Heb. of his soul}
A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that spill innocent blood,
A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, {A proud...: Heb. Haughty eyes}
A heart that cooks up wicked schemes, feet that dash towards trouble,
An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
A fake witness dropping lies, and the one stirring up drama among the crew.
A false witness {that} speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
Ayo, homie, stick to your pops’ guidelines, and don’t ditch your mom’s vibes.
My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
Keep those vibes tight to your heart and wear them like bling, fr.
Bind them continually upon thine heart, {and} tie them about thy neck.
When you step out, they'll guide you; when you crash, they'll have your back; and when you wake, they'll chat with you.
When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and {when} thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
The commandment’s like a light; the law’s pure brightness; and the lessons are the real way to live, no cap.
For the commandment {is} a lamp; and the law {is} light; and reproofs of instruction {are} the way of life: {lamp: or, candle}
To keep you clear of that sus woman and her smooth talk.
To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. {of the...: or, of the strange tongue}
Don’t get caught up in her beauty, fam; don’t let her eyelids reel you in.
Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
A dude gets played by a shady woman, and he ends up broke; that gold digger is out here snatching what’s valuable.
For by means of a whorish woman {a man is brought} to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life. {the adulteress: Heb. the woman of a man, or, a man's wife}
Can a dude hold fire close and not catch flames? Nah, that’s wild.
Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
Can someone step on hot coals and not get scorched? That’s a hard pass.
Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?
So if you mess with your neighbor’s wife, you ain’t gonna walk away clean, periodt.
So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.
No one really trips on a thief if he’s just trying to eat when he’s starving; that’s just survival vibes.
{Men} do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;
If he gets caught, he gotta pay back seven times, no cap; he’s giving up everything he's got.
But {if} he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.
If you cheat on your girl, that’s just sus; you’re basically trashing your own vibe.
{But} whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he {that} doeth it destroyeth his own soul. {understanding: Heb. heart}
You’re gonna catch a wound and some major shame; that rep ain’t getting wiped away, periodt.
A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
Jealousy’s like a dude on a rampage; he won’t hold back when it’s time to get revenge.
For jealousy {is} the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
He ain't gonna care about any bribes; even with all the gifts, he’ll still be unsatisfied, fr.
He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts. {He will...: Heb. He will not accept the face of any ransom}
