Proverbs Chapter 23
So when you kick it to eat with a boss, scope out what’s on your plate, fr.
When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what {is} before thee:
If you’re living that munchie life, it’s like putting a blade to your own throat, no cap.
And put a knife to thy throat, if thou {be} a man given to appetite.
Don’t be thirsty for his bougie bites; it’s just sus vibes.
Be not desirous of his dainties: for they {are} deceitful meat.
Don’t hustle just to show off cash; chill with your own wisdom, it’s a vibe.
Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.
Why you stressing over stuff that ain't real? Money just dips like it’s got wings, flying off like a bird.
Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for {riches} certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven. {set...: Heb. cause thine eyes to fly upon}
Skip the bread of someone sketchy, and pass on his fancy snacks, periodt.
Eat thou not the bread of {him that hath} an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats:
As he thinks in his heart, that’s who he really is: “Eat and drink,” he’s saying, but his heart’s not vibing with you.
For as he thinketh in his heart, so {is} he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart {is} not with thee.
You’ll just end up regurgitating what you munched and losing those sweet words, fr.
The morsel {which} thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words.
Don’t waste your smarts on a fool; he’s just gonna roast your words.
Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.
Don’t shift the old markers; keep the orphans’ fields untouched, that’s facts.
Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless: {landmark: or, bound}
Their redeemer's got major power; He'll back them up, no cap.
For their redeemer {is} mighty; he shall plead their cause with thee.
Stay focused on that knowledge grind, and keep an ear out for the wisdom drops.
Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge.
Don't hold back the real talk from the kid; if you give him some discipline, he’ll do just fine.
Withhold not correction from the child: for {if} thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.
You gotta discipline him, and it’ll keep him from the bad vibes.
Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.
My dude, if you stay wise, my heart's gonna be vibing with joy, fr.
My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine. {even...: or, even I will rejoice}
For real, my soul will be hyped when you drop the truth.
Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things.
Don’t let your heart be jelly of the sinners; just keep it real with God all day, periodt.
Let not thine heart envy sinners: but {be thou} in the fear of the LORD all the day long.
Trust, there’s light at the end; your hopes won’t get ghosted.
For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off. {end: or, reward}
Listen up, my dude, and be clever; steer your heart on the right path.
Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way.
Don't hang with the party crew; dodge those who feast like it's the end of the world.
Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh: {of flesh: Heb. of their flesh}
Drunkards and munchers gonna end up broke, and being lazy just wraps you in rags, no cap.
For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe {a man} with rags.
Pay attention to your pops who made you, and don’t sleep on your mom as she ages, fr.
Hearken unto thy father that begat thee, and despise not thy mother when she is old.
Grab the truth and don’t trade it off; wisdom, instruction, and understanding are all bussin.
Buy the truth, and sell {it} not; {also} wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.
A dad of the righteous is gonna vibe hard with joy, and raising a wise kid is straight-up lit.
The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise {child} shall have joy of him.
Your parents will be hyped, and your mom who had you will be living her best life.
Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice.
Yo, my dude, give me your heart, and keep your eyes on my moves, periodt.
My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.
A freak is like a deep pit; and a shady girl is just a narrow trap, sus.
For a whore {is} a deep ditch; and a strange woman {is} a narrow pit.
She’s waiting to pounce like a predator, and she’s just stirring up more trouble among guys.
She also lieth in wait as {for} a prey, and increaseth the transgressors among men. {as for...: or, as a robber}
Who’s out here feeling low? Who’s got drama? Who's always in conflict? Who’s just rambling? Who’s got random cuts? Who’s rocking bloodshot eyes?
Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes?
Those who chill too long with the wine; they’re the ones always seeking that mixed drink.
They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.
Don’t even glance at that wine when it’s all red and chilling in the cup, just vibing.
Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, {when} it moveth itself aright.
In the end, it bites like a snake and hits you hard, no cap.
At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. {an...: or, a cockatrice}
Your eyes gonna peep some wild girls, and your heart’s gonna whisper some sus stuff.
Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.
For real, you’ll feel like someone chilling in the ocean or hanging out on top of a mast.
Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast. {the midst...: Heb. the heart of the sea}
They hit me, and I’m like, “I’m fine,” they strike me, and I didn’t even feel it: when am I gonna snap out of it? I’m chasing that again, periodt.
They have stricken me, {shalt thou say, and} I was not sick; they have beaten me, {and} I felt {it} not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again. {I felt...: Heb. I knew it not}
