Numbers Chapter 24
So when Balaam peeped that the Lord was vibing with blessing Israel, he didn’t go searching for enchantments like he usually did; instead, he faced the wilderness.
And when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness. {to seek...: Heb. to the meeting of}
Balaam lifted his gaze and spotted Israel chilling in their tents by tribes; then the spirit of God showed up.
And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding {in his tents} according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.
He dropped his parable and said, "Balaam, son of Beor, is speaking, and the dude with clear vision is saying:"
And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said: {whose...: Heb. who had his eyes shut, but now opened}
He said, who heard God’s words, saw the Almighty’s vision, falling into a trance but still woke:
He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling {into a trance}, but having his eyes open:
Yo, your tents are straight flames, Jacob, and your hangouts, Israel!
How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, {and} thy tabernacles, O Israel!
They stretched out like valleys, gardens by the river, and trees planted by the Lord, like cedars next to the water.
As the valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river's side, as the trees of lign aloes which the LORD hath planted, {and} as cedar trees beside the waters.
He’s gonna spill out water from his buckets, his seed will flow in mad waters, and his king’s game will be above Agag; his kingdom’s about to blow up.
He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed {shall be} in many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted.
God brought him outta Egypt; he’s got the strength of a unicorn: he’ll feast on his foes and shatter their bones, piercing them with arrows.
God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce {them} through with his arrows.
He lay down like a lion, a big lion: who’s gonna wake him up? Blessed is the one who vibes with you, and cursed is the one who disses you.
He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed {is} he that blesseth thee, and cursed {is} he that curseth thee.
Balak got furious at Balaam and snapped his fingers: "I brought you here to curse my enemies, but you’ve blessed them three times, no cap!"
And Balak's anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together: and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed {them} these three times.
So now, head back to your spot: I thought I’d give you mad respect, but the Lord’s holding you back from that glory.
Therefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee unto great honour; but, lo, the LORD hath kept thee back from honour.
Balaam shot back to Balak, "Did I not also tell your messengers what’s good?"
And Balaam said unto Balak, Spake I not also to thy messengers which thou sentest unto me, saying,
If Balak gave me his whole stash of silver and gold, I can’t go beyond what the Lord said; I’ll only drop what the Lord tells me, fr.
If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the LORD, to do {either} good or bad of mine own mind; {but} what the LORD saith, that will I speak?
Now, I’m heading to my crew: come through, and I’ll spill the tea on what this people will do to yours down the line.
And now, behold, I go unto my people: come {therefore, and} I will advertise thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days.
He picked up his parable again and said, "Balaam, son of Beor, is speaking, and the dude with clear vision is saying:"
And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:
He said, who heard God’s words and knew the knowledge of the Most High, saw the Almighty’s vision, falling into a trance but still woke:
He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, {which} saw the vision of the Almighty, falling {into a trance}, but having his eyes open:
I’ll see him, but not right now; I’ll behold him, but not close: a Star’s gonna shine out of Jacob, and a Sceptre will rise out of Israel, smiting the corners of Moab and wrecking all the kids of Sheth.
I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth. {smite...: or, smite through the princes of}
Edom will be a vibe, Seir will also be a vibe for his foes; and Israel’s gonna flex hard.
And Edom shall be a possession, Seir also shall be a possession for his enemies; and Israel shall do valiantly.
From Jacob will come the one who’s got dominion and will wipe out the leftover peeps in the city.
Out of Jacob shall come he that shall have dominion, and shall destroy him that remaineth of the city.
And when he peeped at Amalek, he dropped his parable, saying, "Amalek was the first of the nations; but his end will be straight up gone forever."
And when he looked on Amalek, he took up his parable, and said, Amalek {was} the first of the nations; but his latter end {shall be} that he perish for ever. {the nations: the nations that warred against Israel} {that...: or, even to destruction}
He checked the Kenites, took up his parable, and said, "Your spot is solid, and you’ve built your nest in a rock."
And he looked on the Kenites, and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwellingplace, and thou puttest thy nest in a rock.
But the Kenite’s gonna be wiped out until Asshur takes you captive.
Nevertheless the Kenite shall be wasted, until Asshur shall carry thee away captive. {the Kenite: Heb. Kain} {until...: or, how long shall it be ere Asshur carry thee away captive}
He picked up his parable and said, "Yikes, who’s gonna make it when God does this?"
And he took up his parable, and said, Alas, who shall live when God doeth this!
Ships will roll in from Chittim’s coast, and they’ll square off with Asshur and Eber, and he’s also gonna be gone forever.
And ships {shall come} from the coast of Chittim, and shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber, and he also shall perish for ever.
Balaam got up, dipped, and went back to his place; Balak also went his own way.
And Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place: and Balak also went his way.
