Numbers Chapter 21
So King Arad from Canaan caught wind that Israel was cruising through and decided to act up, capturing a few of them.
And {when} king Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt in the south, heard tell that Israel came by the way of the spies; then he fought against Israel, and took {some} of them prisoners.
Israel was like, "Yo, if you help us take these folks down, we’ll totally wreck their cities."
And Israel vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou wilt indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.
God peeped Israel’s request and was like, "Bet," handing over the Canaanites, and they wiped them out, naming the place Hormah.
And the LORD hearkened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities: and he called the name of the place Hormah. {Hormah: that is, Utter destruction}
They bounced from Mount Hor and hit the Red Sea to go around Edom, but the vibes were off and the people were mega down.
And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way. {discouraged: or, grieved: Heb. shortened}
The crew started talking smack about God and Moses, like, "Why’d you even bring us outta Egypt just to die in the desert? We got no food, no water, and this bread is straight mid."
And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for {there is} no bread, neither {is there any} water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.
Then God sent some fiery snakes to bite them, and a bunch of Israelites were not making it.
And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
The people went to Moses, confessing, "We messed up, we talked trash about God and you; pray to God to take these snakes away." And Moses was like, "I got you."
Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
God told Moses to craft a fiery snake and put it on a pole, saying, "Anyone who gets bitten can peep at it and live."
And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.
So Moses made a brass snake and put it on a pole; if someone got bitten and looked at the brass snake, they were straight chilling.
And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.
The Israelites moved out and set up camp in Oboth.
And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in Oboth.
They bounced from Oboth and set up camp at Ije–abarim, out in the wild before Moab, facing the sunrise.
And they journeyed from Oboth, and pitched at Ijeabarim, in the wilderness which {is} before Moab, toward the sunrising. {Ijeabarim: or, heaps of Abarim}
Then they dipped and pitched in the valley of Zared.
From thence they removed, and pitched in the valley of Zared.
After that, they moved and set up on the other side of Arnon, in the wild that comes from the Amorites' coast: Arnon is the border between Moab and the Amorites, no cap.
From thence they removed, and pitched on the other side of Arnon, which {is} in the wilderness that cometh out of the coasts of the Amorites: for Arnon {is} the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.
It’s chronicled in the book of the Lord’s wars, what He did in the Red Sea and the brooks of Arnon, straight up.
Wherefore it is said in the book of the wars of the LORD, What he did in the Red sea, and in the brooks of Arnon, {What...: or, Vaheb in Suphah}
And at the stream of the brooks that flow down to Ar's spot, chilling on the border of Moab.
And at the stream of the brooks that goeth down to the dwelling of Ar, and lieth upon the border of Moab. {lieth: Heb. leaneth}
Then they headed to Beer, the well where God told Moses to gather the crew, and He’d hook them up with water.
And from thence {they went} to Beer: that {is} the well whereof the LORD spake unto Moses, Gather the people together, and I will give them water.
Then Israel dropped this banger: "Spring up, O well; vibe with it!"
Then Israel sang this song, Spring up, O well; sing ye unto it: {Spring...: Heb. Ascend} {sing: or, answer}
The princes dug the well, the nobles got in on it, following the lawgiver’s lead, with their staffs. Then they cruised from the wild to Mattanah.
The princes digged the well, the nobles of the people digged it, by {the direction of} the lawgiver, with their staves. And from the wilderness {they went} to Mattanah:
From Mattanah to Nahaliel; and from Nahaliel to Bamoth, all lit.
And from Mattanah to Nahaliel: and from Nahaliel to Bamoth:
From Bamoth in the valley, which is in Moab, to the peak of Pisgah, looking over Jeshimon.
And from Bamoth {in} the valley, that {is} in the country of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looketh toward Jeshimon. {country: Heb. field} {Pisgah: or, the hill} {Jeshimon: or, the wilderness}
So Israel hit up Sihon, the king of the Amorites, like, "Yo, what's good?"
And Israel sent messengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, saying,
"Let us cruise through your land; we ain't about to hit the fields or vineyards, and we ain't drinking your well water. We just wanna roll along the king's highway till we bounce past your borders."
Let me pass through thy land: we will not turn into the fields, or into the vineyards; we will not drink {of} the waters of the well: {but} we will go along by the king's {high} way, until we be past thy borders.
But Sihon was like, "Nah fam," and gathered his crew to confront Israel in the wild. He rolled up to Jahaz and threw down with Israel.
And Sihon would not suffer Israel to pass through his border: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness: and he came to Jahaz, and fought against Israel.
Israel straight up took him out with the sword and snagged his land from Arnon to Jabbok, even up to the Ammonites, 'cause their border was no joke.
And Israel smote him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from Arnon unto Jabbok, even unto the children of Ammon: for the border of the children of Ammon {was} strong.
Israel grabbed all those cities and hung out in all the Amorite towns, especially Heshbon and its villages.
And Israel took all these cities: and Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all the villages thereof. {villages: Heb. daughters}
Heshbon was Sihon's spot, the king of the Amorites, who had beefed with Moab's former king and took all his land, all the way up to Arnon.
For Heshbon {was} the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even unto Arnon.
That's why the wise folks say, "Pull up to Heshbon, let Sihon's city be built and ready to go!"
Wherefore they that speak in proverbs say, Come into Heshbon, let the city of Sihon be built and prepared:
'Cause there's a fire blazing outta Heshbon, a flame from Sihon's city that's roasted Ar of Moab and the high ups of Arnon.
For there is a fire gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon: it hath consumed Ar of Moab, {and} the lords of the high places of Arnon.
Yo, Moab! You're done for, peeps of Chemosh; he gave up his surviving sons and daughters to Sihon, king of the Amorites.
Woe to thee, Moab! thou art undone, O people of Chemosh: he hath given his sons that escaped, and his daughters, into captivity unto Sihon king of the Amorites.
We took shots at them; Heshbon's toast all the way to Dibon, and we wrecked them all the way to Nophah, reaching Medeba.
We have shot at them; Heshbon is perished even unto Dibon, and we have laid them waste even unto Nophah, which {reacheth} unto Medeba.
So Israel was vibin' hard in the land of the Amorites.
Thus Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites.
Moses was like, "Let's scope out Jaazer," and they took the villages, kicking the Amorites outta there.
And Moses sent to spy out Jaazer, and they took the villages thereof, and drove out the Amorites that {were} there.
Then they dipped up through Bashan, and Og, the king of Bashan, rolled out to face them with his crew for a showdown at Edrei.
And they turned and went up by the way of Bashan: and Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he, and all his people, to the battle at Edrei.
The Lord told Moses, "No cap, don’t sweat him; I got him and his whole squad in your hands. You’re gonna handle him like you did Sihon, king of the Amorites back in Heshbon."
And the LORD said unto Moses, Fear him not: for I have delivered him into thy hand, and all his people, and his land; and thou shalt do to him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.
So they took him down, plus his sons and all his peeps, until no one was left breathing, and they claimed his land.
So they smote him, and his sons, and all his people, until there was none left him alive: and they possessed his land.
