Numbers Chapter 20
The Israel crew pulled up to the Zin desert in the first month, just chilling at Kadesh; that’s where Miriam passed away, and they laid her to rest, no cap.
Then came the children of Israel, {even} the whole congregation, into the desert of Zin in the first month: and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there.
But there was no water for the whole squad, so they rolled up on Moses and Aaron, sus vibes.
And there was no water for the congregation: and they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.
The people went off on Moses, like, “For real, we wish we had just kicked the bucket with our homies in front of the Lord!”
And the people chode with Moses, and spake, saying, Would God that we had died when our brethren died before the LORD!
They were like, “Why’d you drag us out here into the wilderness, just to let us and our livestock die? That’s savage.”
And why have ye brought up the congregation of the LORD into this wilderness, that we and our cattle should die there?
And they were all, “Why’d you even bring us out of Egypt to this whack place? There’s no crops, figs, vines, or even pomegranates; and we’re dying of thirst, fr!”
And wherefore have ye made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this evil place? it {is} no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither {is} there any water to drink.
So Moses and Aaron split from the crowd to the tabernacle door and hit the ground, and the Lord’s glory showed up, lit.
And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they fell upon their faces: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto them.
Then the Lord was like, “Yo, Moses, listen up.”
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
“Grab the rod, bring the squad, you and Aaron, and chat with the rock in front of them; it’ll flow water, and you’ll give the crew and their animals a drink.”
Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.
Moses picked up the rod just like the Lord told him, no doubt.
And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him.
Moses and Aaron gathered the squad in front of the rock, and he said, “Yo, rebels, you really think we gotta get you water from this rock?”
And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?
Moses lifted his hand, smacked the rock a couple times with his stick, and water just gushed out; everyone was vibing, and even the animals got their drink.
And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts {also}.
God was like, "Yo Moses and Aaron, since you didn't trust me to show my rizz to the Israelites, you ain’t entering the promised land."
And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.
This is the water of Meribah; the Israelites had some drama with God, and He was all about that sanctification vibe.
This {is} the water of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with the LORD, and he was sanctified in them. {Meribah: that is, Strife}
Moses hit up the king of Edom, saying, "Yo, it’s your homie Israel, you know all the struggles we’ve faced."
And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh unto the king of Edom, Thus saith thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the travail that hath befallen us: {befallen...: Heb. found us}
Our fam rolled into Egypt, was there for ages, and the Egyptians were totally savage to us and our ancestors.
How our fathers went down into Egypt, and we have dwelt in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians vexed us, and our fathers:
When we called out to the Lord, He heard us, sent an angel, and rescued us from Egypt; now we’re chilling in Kadesh, right on your border.
And when we cried unto the LORD, he heard our voice, and sent an angel, and hath brought us forth out of Egypt: and, behold, we {are} in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of thy border:
Let us pass through your land, no cap: we won't touch your fields or vineyards, and we won’t drink your well water; we’ll stick to the king’s highway, no detours until we’re out.
Let us pass, I pray thee, through thy country: we will not pass through the fields, or through the vineyards, neither will we drink {of} the water of the wells: we will go by the king's {high} way, we will not turn to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed thy borders.
Edom was like, "Nah, you ain’t passing through, or I’m coming at you with the sword."
And Edom said unto him, Thou shalt not pass by me, lest I come out against thee with the sword.
The Israelites replied, "We’ll stick to the highway; if my crew and I drink your water, I’ll pay you back, just letting us walk through."
And the children of Israel said unto him, We will go by the high way: and if I and my cattle drink of thy water, then I will pay for it: I will only, without {doing} any thing {else}, go through on my feet.
Edom was like, "No way you’re getting through," and came out with a squad, flexing hard.
And he said, Thou shalt not go through. And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand.
Edom was like, "Nah fam, you can’t pass through my turf," so Israel had to bounce.
Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border: wherefore Israel turned away from him.
The whole squad of Israel dipped from Kadesh and headed to mount Hor.
And the children of Israel, {even} the whole congregation, journeyed from Kadesh, and came unto mount Hor.
God pulled up on Moses and Aaron at mount Hor, near Edom, and said,
And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in mount Hor, by the coast of the land of Edom, saying,
"Aaron's gotta chill with his peeps now; he ain't entering the land I promised Israel 'cause he lowkey dissed my word at Meribah."
Aaron shall be gathered unto his people: for he shall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Israel, because ye rebelled against my word at the water of Meribah. {word: Heb. mouth}
"Grab Aaron and his son Eleazar, and take them up to mount Hor."
Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up unto mount Hor:
"Take off Aaron's drip and put it on Eleazar; Aaron's gonna join his crew and peace out here."
And strip Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son: and Aaron shall be gathered {unto his people}, and shall die there.
Moses did what God said, and they rolled up to mount Hor in front of the whole squad.
And Moses did as the LORD commanded: and they went up into mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation.
Moses took off Aaron's drip and put it on Eleazar; Aaron passed away at the peak, and then Moses and Eleazar came back down.
And Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son; and Aaron died there in the top of the mount: and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mount.
When the whole squad noticed Aaron was gone, they mourned for him for thirty days, no cap, all the house of Israel.
And when all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, they mourned for Aaron thirty days, {even} all the house of Israel.
