Joshua Chapter 10
So, Adoni–zedek, the ruler of Jerusalem, caught wind of how Joshua totally obliterated Ai, just like he did with Jericho and its king. Gibeon was vibing with Israel, so it was all good.
Now it came to pass, when Adonizedek king of Jerusalem had heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them;
They were stressed, 'cause Gibeon was a big player, like a royal city, way tougher than Ai, with some serious game on their team.
That they feared greatly, because Gibeon {was} a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it {was} greater than Ai, and all the men thereof {were} mighty. {royal...: Heb. cities of the kingdom}
Adoni–zedek hit up Hoham, king of Hebron, Piram, king of Jarmuth, Japhia, king of Lachish, and Debir, king of Eglon, saying,
Wherefore Adonizedek king of Jerusalem sent unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying,
"Yo, come through and help me out so we can take down Gibeon, 'cause they’re tight with Joshua and the Israel crew."
Come up unto me, and help me, that we may smite Gibeon: for it hath made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.
So the five kings of the Amorites, including the king of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish, and Eglon, gathered their peeps and rolled up on Gibeon to stir up trouble.
Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their hosts, and encamped before Gibeon, and made war against it.
The Gibeon squad sent a message to Joshua at Gilgal, like, "Don’t ghost us; come quick and save us, 'cause all the kings of the Amorites are coming for us."
And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.
Joshua bounced from Gilgal with his whole war crew and all the legendary warriors.
So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valour.
The Lord told Joshua, "For real, don’t sweat them; I got your back, and none of them will stand against you."
And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.
Joshua rolled up on them outta nowhere and made the journey from Gilgal all night.
Joshua therefore came unto them suddenly, {and} went up from Gilgal all night.
The Lord totally threw them off their game before Israel, taking them out big time at Gibeon and chasing them down to Beth–horon, wrecking them all the way to Azekah and Makkedah.
And the LORD discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goeth up to Bethhoron, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah.
So, as they were dipping from Israel, headed down to Beth-horon, the Lord dropped huge stones from the sky on them, and they were done for: more peeps got taken out by the hail than by the Israelites' swords.
And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, {and} were in the going down to Bethhoron, that the LORD cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: {they were} more which died with hailstones than {they} whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.
Then Joshua called out to the Lord on the day He handed the Amorites to Israel, saying, "Yo Sun, just chill in Gibeon; and you, Moon, stay in the Ajalon valley."
Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. {stand...: Heb. be silent}
And the sun just hung there, while the moon was like, "I’m not moving," until the people got their payback on their enemies. Ain’t this in the book of Jasher? The sun was lit, just hanging out in the sky, not going down for a whole day.
And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. {Is} not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. {Jasher: or, the upright?}
There’s never been a day like that, before or after, when the Lord listened to a dude: 'cause the Lord was out here fighting for Israel.
And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.
Then Joshua came back, with all of Israel, to the camp at Gilgal.
And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.
But those five kings bounced and hid in a cave at Makkedah.
But these five kings fled, and hid themselves in a cave at Makkedah.
And Joshua got the scoop that the five kings were hiding in a cave at Makkedah.
And it was told Joshua, saying, The five kings are found hid in a cave at Makkedah.
Joshua said, "Roll some big stones over the cave entrance, and put some homies there to keep watch."
And Joshua said, Roll great stones upon the mouth of the cave, and set men by it for to keep them:
And don’t just chill, go after your enemies and take out the stragglers; don’t let them bounce back to their cities, 'cause the Lord your God has handed them to you.
And stay ye not, {but} pursue after your enemies, and smite the hindmost of them; suffer them not to enter into their cities: for the LORD your God hath delivered them into your hand. {smite...: Heb. cut off the tail}
So, when Joshua and the Israelites finished taking them out with a major wipeout, until they were all gone, the rest that remained ran into the fortified cities.
And it came to pass, when Joshua and the children of Israel had made an end of slaying them with a very great slaughter, till they were consumed, that the rest {which} remained of them entered into fenced cities.
Everyone rolled back to camp with Joshua at Makkedah, all chill vibes; no one was talking smack about the Israelites.
And all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace: none moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel.
Then Joshua was like, "Yo, open that cave up and bring me those five kings."
Then said Joshua, Open the mouth of the cave, and bring out those five kings unto me out of the cave.
They did it, and out came those five kings: the king of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish, and Eglon.
And they did so, and brought forth those five kings unto him out of the cave, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, {and} the king of Eglon.
When they brought the kings to Joshua, he called all the Israel dudes over and told the war captains, "Come through, step on these kings' necks." They rolled up and did just that.
And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them.
Joshua said, "For real, don’t be scared or anxious; be strong and courageous. This is how the Lord rolls with all your enemies."
And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the LORD do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.
Then Joshua took them out, took them down, and hung them on five trees; they were chilling there until evening.
And afterward Joshua smote them, and slew them, and hanged them on five trees: and they were hanging upon the trees until the evening.
When the sun was setting, Joshua told them to take the kings down from the trees and toss them into the cave where they were hiding, putting big rocks at the cave's mouth that are still there today.
And it came to pass at the time of the going down of the sun, {that} Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and cast them into the cave wherein they had been hid, and laid great stones in the cave's mouth, {which remain} until this very day.
That day, Joshua took Makkedah, sliced it up with the sword, totally wrecked the king and everyone there; he didn’t let anyone slide, just like he did with Jericho’s king.
And that day Joshua took Makkedah, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof he utterly destroyed, them, and all the souls that {were} therein; he let none remain: and he did to the king of Makkedah as he did unto the king of Jericho.
Then Joshua and all Israel dipped from Makkedah to Libnah and threw down against Libnah.
Then Joshua passed from Makkedah, and all Israel with him, unto Libnah, and fought against Libnah:
The Lord handed it over, along with its king, to Israel; they took it out with the sword and didn’t leave anyone behind, just like with Jericho’s king.
And the LORD delivered it also, and the king thereof, into the hand of Israel; and he smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that {were} therein; he let none remain in it; but did unto the king thereof as he did unto the king of Jericho.
Joshua rolled out from Libnah with the whole crew to Lachish, set up camp, and got ready to throw down.
And Joshua passed from Libnah, and all Israel with him, unto Lachish, and encamped against it, and fought against it:
The Lord handed Lachish to Israel, and they took it on day two, slicing through with the sword, just like they did with Libnah.
And the LORD delivered Lachish into the hand of Israel, which took it on the second day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that {were} therein, according to all that he had done to Libnah.
Then Horam, the king of Gezer, showed up to back Lachish; Joshua clapped him and his crew until nobody was left.
Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish; and Joshua smote him and his people, until he had left him none remaining.
From Lachish, Joshua dipped to Eglon with the whole squad; they set up camp and got ready to fight.
And from Lachish Joshua passed unto Eglon, and all Israel with him; and they encamped against it, and fought against it:
They snagged it that day, took it out with the sword, and wiped out everyone there, just like they did with Lachish.
And they took it on that day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that {were} therein he utterly destroyed that day, according to all that he had done to Lachish.
Joshua bounced from Eglon with the squad to Hebron, and they threw down there.
And Joshua went up from Eglon, and all Israel with him, unto Hebron; and they fought against it:
They took it, sliced through with the sword, and wiped out the king and all the cities; nobody was left, just like Eglon.
And they took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof, and all the souls that {were} therein; he left none remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon; but destroyed it utterly, and all the souls that {were} therein.
Joshua came back with all Israel to Debir and got ready to fight.
And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to Debir; and fought against it:
They took it, the king, and all the cities, slashed them with the sword, and completely wiped out everyone there, just like he did to Hebron and Libnah.
And he took it, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof; and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls that {were} therein; he left none remaining: as he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir, and to the king thereof; as he had done also to Libnah, and to her king.
So Joshua took out all the hills, the south, the valleys, and the springs, and all their kings; nobody was left, just like the Lord God of Israel said.
So Joshua smote all the country of the hills, and of the south, and of the vale, and of the springs, and all their kings: he left none remaining, but utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the LORD God of Israel commanded.
Joshua straight up took out those foes from Kadesh-barnea to Gaza, and all the vibes in Goshen to Gibeon.
And Joshua smote them from Kadeshbarnea even unto Gaza, and all the country of Goshen, even unto Gibeon.
Joshua snagged all those kings and their land at once, 'cause the Lord God of Israel was fighting for the squad.
And all these kings and their land did Joshua take at one time, because the LORD God of Israel fought for Israel.
Joshua rolled back with all of Israel to the camp at Gilgal, no cap.
And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.
