Job Chapter 32
So these three guys just bounced from talking to Job, 'cause he was acting all high and mighty.
So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he {was} righteous in his own eyes. {to...: Heb. from answering}
Then Elihu, Barachel's kid from Buz, got fired up at Job, 'cause he was all about himself instead of God.
Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God. {himself: Heb. his soul}
Elihu was also mad at Job's three pals, 'cause they had no solutions but were throwing shade at Job anyway.
Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled, because they had found no answer, and {yet} had condemned Job.
Elihu held back, waiting for Job to wrap it up, since he was the youngest in the crew.
Now Elihu had waited till Job had spoken, because they {were} elder than he. {waited...: Heb. expected Job in words} {elder: Heb. elder for days}
When Elihu peeped that these three homies had nothing to contribute, his anger flared up.
When Elihu saw that {there was} no answer in the mouth of {these} three men, then his wrath was kindled.
Elihu, son of Barachel the Buzite, was like, "Yo, I'm young while y'all are ancient; I wanted to keep my ideas to myself for a sec."
And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, I {am} young, and ye {are} very old; wherefore I was afraid, and durst not shew you mine opinion. {young: Heb. few of days} {durst...: Heb. feared}
I said, "Old folks should be dropping gems, and with age comes wisdom, no cap."
I said, Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.
But there's a vibe in folks; the Almighty spills the tea to them.
But {there is} a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.
Just because you've got status doesn't mean you're wise; older folks don't always hit the mark.
Great men are not {always} wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.
So I was like, "Yo, listen up; I gotta drop my two cents too."
Therefore I said, Hearken to me; I also will shew mine opinion.
I was just chilling, waiting for you all to speak; I was locked in while you guys sorted your thoughts.
Behold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasons, whilst ye searched out what to say. {reasons: Heb. understandings} {what...: Heb. words}
Yeah, I was tuned in, but none of you swayed Job or gave him any replies.
Yea, I attended unto you, and, behold, {there was} none of you that convinced Job, {or} that answered his words:
Don’t say, "We discovered wisdom"; it's God who brings people down, not us.
Lest ye should say, We have found out wisdom: God thrusteth him down, not man.
Job didn’t throw shade my way, so I’m not gonna hit him with your lines.
Now he hath not directed {his} words against me: neither will I answer him with your speeches. {directed: or, ordered}
They were shook, not dropping another word; they just went silent.
They were amazed, they answered no more: they left off speaking. {left...: Heb. removed speeches from themselves}
Since I was waiting (they weren’t saying anything, just standing there, all quiet).
When I had waited, (for they spake not, but stood still, {and} answered no more;)
I said, "I gotta spill my thoughts too; it’s time to let it out."
{I said}, I will answer also my part, I also will shew mine opinion.
I’m packed with stuff to say; the spirit in me won’t let me chill.
For I am full of matter, the spirit within me constraineth me. {matter: Heb. words} {spirit...: Heb. spirit of my belly}
My insides are like champagne that's ready to pop; I'm about to burst like fresh bottles.
Behold, my belly {is} as wine {which} hath no vent; it is ready to burst like new bottles. {hath...: Heb. is not opened}
I’m gonna speak to feel lighter: I’ll open my mouth and drop some truths.
I will speak, that I may be refreshed: I will open my lips and answer. {be...: Heb. breathe}
Don't let me, please, pick favorites or hand out compliments just to be nice.
Let me not, I pray you, accept any man's person, neither let me give flattering titles unto man.
'Cause I don’t know how to butter anyone up; if I did, my creator would be like, "Nah, you’re out."
For I know not to give flattering titles; {in so doing} my maker would soon take me away.
