Job Chapter 31
I struck a pact with my eyes; so what’s with the thought of a girl?
I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?
What’s cooking up there with God? What’s the Almighty's vibe from up top?
For what portion of God {is there} from above? and {what} inheritance of the Almighty from on high?
Isn’t destruction meant for the shady ones? And wild punishment for the sus crew?
{Is} not destruction to the wicked? and a strange {punishment} to the workers of iniquity?
Isn’t He peeping my actions and keeping tabs on my steps?
Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps?
If I’ve been flexing with pride, or if I’ve been quick to be shady;
If I have walked with vanity, or if my foot hath hasted to deceit;
Balance me on a fair scale, so God knows I'm the real deal.
Let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know mine integrity. {Let...: Heb. Let him weigh me in balances of justice}
If I’ve wandered off the path, and my heart chased my sight, plus if I’ve got any dirt on my hands;
If my step hath turned out of the way, and mine heart walked after mine eyes, and if any blot hath cleaved to mine hands;
Then let me plant, and let someone else feast; for real, let my crew be cut off.
{Then} let me sow, and let another eat; yea, let my offspring be rooted out.
If my heart fell for a girl, or if I’ve been creeping at my neighbor's doorstep;
If mine heart have been deceived by a woman, or {if} I have laid wait at my neighbour's door;
Then let my wife grind for another dude, and let others bow to her.
{Then} let my wife grind unto another, and let others bow down upon her.
This is a straight-up savage act; it's a crime that deserves hefty judgment, no cap.
For this {is} an heinous crime; yea, it {is} an iniquity {to be punished by} the judges.
It’s like a blaze that tears everything apart, totally wiping out my gains, fr.
For it {is} a fire {that} consumeth to destruction, and would root out all mine increase.
If I ever played my homies dirty, like my servants, when they had issues with me;
If I did despise the cause of my manservant or of my maidservant, when they contended with me;
What’s my excuse gonna be when God pulls up? Like, what do I even say?
What then shall I do when God riseth up? and when he visiteth, what shall I answer him?
Didn’t the guy who crafted me also craft him? We’re both made by the same Creator, periodt.
Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb? {did not one...: or, did he not fashion us in one womb?}
If I’ve kept the needy from their wants, or made the widow feel all kinds of hurt;
If I have withheld the poor from {their} desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail;
Or if I just munched on my meals alone while the fatherless went starving;
Or have eaten my morsel myself alone, and the fatherless hath not eaten thereof;
(Since I’ve been a father figure to him since he was a kid, guiding him from the womb, no cap;)
(For from my youth he was brought up with me, as {with} a father, and I have guided her from my mother's womb;) {her: that is, the widow}
If I’ve seen anyone fall because they had no swag, or any broke peeps without a fit;
If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or any poor without covering;
If his crew hasn’t blessed me back, and if he hasn’t been warmed by my sheep’s wool;
If his loins have not blessed me, and {if} he were {not} warmed with the fleece of my sheep;
If I ever went after the orphans when I saw my help at the gate, that's mad sus.
If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, when I saw my help in the gate:
Then let my arm just drop, like seriously, break it off entirely.
{Then} let mine arm fall from my shoulder blade, and mine arm be broken from the bone. {bone: or, chanelbone}
For God's destruction was hella scary, and I couldn’t handle His vibe.
For destruction {from} God {was} a terror to me, and by reason of his highness I could not endure.
If I made gold my whole vibe, or said to the fine gold, "You're my ride or die;"
If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, {Thou art} my confidence;
If I was vibing hard 'cause my wealth was on fire, and my hand was stacking mad dough;
If I rejoiced because my wealth {was} great, and because mine hand had gotten much; {gotten...: Heb. found much}
If I peeped the sun shining or the moon flexing its glow;
If I beheld the sun when it shined, or the moon walking {in} brightness; {sun: Heb. light} {in...: Heb. bright}
And my heart was low-key tempted, or my mouth was kissing my own hand:
And my heart hath been secretly enticed, or my mouth hath kissed my hand: {my mouth...: Heb. my hand hath kissed my mouth}
This would be a major sin to get called out for: I’d be denying the ultimate God above.
This also {were} an iniquity {to be punished by} the judge: for I should have denied the God {that is} above.
If I was hyped about the downfall of my haters, or flexed when evil came for them:
If I rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him:
I didn’t let my mouth spill any tea wishing harm on their soul, fr.
Neither have I suffered my mouth to sin by wishing a curse to his soul. {mouth: Heb. palate}
If my squad at the crib was like, "Man, we wish we had some of his vibes!" we'd be totally unsatisfied.
If the men of my tabernacle said not, Oh that we had of his flesh! we cannot be satisfied.
The stranger didn’t crash in the streets, but I was like, "Welcome, fam," and opened my doors to the traveler.
The stranger did not lodge in the street: {but} I opened my doors to the traveller. {traveller: or, way}
If I tried to hide my mess-ups like Adam, keeping my sins all tucked away in my feels:
If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding mine iniquity in my bosom: {as Adam: or, after the manner of men}
Did I get shook by a big crowd, or did family shade scare me, making me stay quiet and not step outside?
Did I fear a great multitude, or did the contempt of families terrify me, that I kept silence, {and} went not out of the door?
Yo, I just want someone to vibe with me! For real, my wish is that the Almighty would hit me up, and my enemy wrote me a book.
Oh that one would hear me! behold, my desire {is, that} the Almighty would answer me, and {that} mine adversary had written a book. {my...: or, my sign is that the Almighty will}
Bet, I’d take that book on my shoulders and rock it like a crown.
Surely I would take it upon my shoulder, {and} bind it {as} a crown to me.
I’d spill all my moves to Him; like a prince, I’d roll up close.
I would declare unto him the number of my steps; as a prince would I go near unto him.
If my land is out here crying for help, or if the fields are throwing shade;
If my land cry against me, or that the furrows likewise thereof complain; {complain: Heb. weep}
If I’ve been munching on the goods without paying, or made the owners lose their whole vibe:
If I have eaten the fruits thereof without money, or have caused the owners thereof to lose their life: {fruits: Heb. strength} {the owners...: Heb. the soul of the owners thereof to expire, or, breathe out}
Let thorns grow instead of wheat, and weeds instead of barley. Job’s words are wrapped up.
Let thistles grow instead of wheat, and cockle instead of barley. The words of Job are ended. {cockle: or, noisome weeds}
