Jeremiah Chapter 4
If you wanna make a comeback, Israel, the Lord’s like, "Return to me." Ditch those bad vibes, and you’ll be all good.
If thou wilt return, O Israel, saith the LORD, return unto me: and if thou wilt put away thine abominations out of my sight, then shalt thou not remove.
Swear on it, the Lord’s alive, no cap, keeping it real; nations gonna vibe with Him and show off that glory.
And thou shalt swear, The LORD liveth, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.
The Lord’s dropping knowledge on Judah and Jerusalem, saying, "Time to work that land, fam; don’t be planting in thorns, that’s sus."
For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.
Get your hearts right with the Lord, Judah and Jerusalem crew: cut out the bad stuff or my anger’s gonna ignite like fire, and ain’t nobody putting that out.
Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench {it}, because of the evil of your doings.
Shout it out in Judah, spread the word in Jerusalem; blow that trumpet, fam, gather up, and let’s hit those fortified cities.
Declare ye in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say, Blow ye the trumpet in the land: cry, gather together, and say, Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the defenced cities.
Set the standard for Zion, don’t sleep on it; I’m bringing some serious heat from the north, and it’s gonna be a whole situation.
Set up the standard toward Zion: retire, stay not: for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction. {retire: or, strengthen} {destruction: Heb. breaking}
The lion's outta his den, and the destroyer’s coming in; he’s rolling to wreck your land, and your cities gonna be empty.
The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate; {and} thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.
So throw on that sackcloth and mourn, fam; the Lord’s fierce anger is not backing down from us.
For this gird you with sackcloth, lament and howl: for the fierce anger of the LORD is not turned back from us.
On that day, the Lord’s saying, the king’s heart gonna fade, and the princes gonna be shook; priests will be like, "Wait, what?" and the prophets gonna be mind-blown.
And it shall come to pass at that day, saith the LORD, {that} the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder.
Then I was like, "Yo, Lord God! You totally played this people and Jerusalem, saying, 'You’ll be fine,' while the sword’s coming for the soul."
Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! surely thou hast greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall have peace; whereas the sword reacheth unto the soul.
Yo, people gonna say to Jerusalem, "This dry wind from the wild is sus for the fam, not here to vibe or clean up."
At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to fan, nor to cleanse,
A full wind from those spots is coming my way; I'm about to drop some truth on them, no doubt.
{Even} a full wind from those {places} shall come unto me: now also will I give sentence against them. {a full...: or, a fuller wind than those} {give...: Heb. utter judgments}
Check it, he’s rolling in like clouds, his chariots are wild like a whirlwind, and his horses are faster than eagles. Woe to us, we’re totally done for!
Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots {shall be} as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe unto us! for we are spoiled.
O Jerusalem, cleanse your heart from all that wickedness, so you can be saved. How long you gonna keep those sus thoughts in your head?
O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?
A voice is calling out from Dan, spreading the tea from mount Ephraim, fr.
For a voice declareth from Dan, and publisheth affliction from mount Ephraim.
Shout out to the nations; peep this, alert Jerusalem, watchmen are coming from way far, bringing the noise against the cities of Judah.
Make ye mention to the nations; behold, publish against Jerusalem, {that} watchers come from a far country, and give out their voice against the cities of Judah.
They’re like the keepers of a field, surrounding her; she’s been acting rebellious against me, says the Lord.
As keepers of a field, are they against her round about; because she hath been rebellious against me, saith the LORD.
Your choices and actions have led to this; it's your wickedness, it's bitter, it cuts deep in your heart.
Thy way and thy doings have procured these {things} unto thee; this {is} thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth unto thine heart.
My insides, my insides! I’m hurting at my core; my heart is making noise, I can’t keep quiet, 'cause you’ve heard, O my soul, the trumpet blaring, the war alarm.
My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war. {my very...: Heb. the walls of my heart}
Destruction on destruction is the vibe; the whole land is wrecked: my tents are ruined outta nowhere, and my curtains are down in a flash.
Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is spoiled: suddenly are my tents spoiled, {and} my curtains in a moment.
How long I gotta check the vibes and hear the horn blast?
How long shall I see the standard, {and} hear the sound of the trumpet?
My peeps are wildin', they don’t even know me; they actin' like kids with no game, smart at being sus but clueless on the good stuff.
For my people {is} foolish, they have not known me; they {are} sottish children, and they have none understanding: they {are} wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.
I looked at the earth, and no cap, it was a total wreck, and the skies had zero light.
I beheld the earth, and, lo, {it was} without form, and void; and the heavens, and they {had} no light.
I peeped the mountains, and for real, they were shook, while all the hills were just vibin’ lightly.
I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.
I checked it out, and dang, there was no one around, and all the birds were ghosting.
I beheld, and, lo, {there was} no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.
I looked again, and fr, the once lit places were now a wasteland, all the cities were wrecked 'cause of the Lord's fierce energy.
I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place {was} a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, {and} by his fierce anger.
The Lord's like, "This whole land is about to be a ghost town, but I ain't done yet."
For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.
The earth's gonna mourn, and the skies gonna be dark: I said it, I meant it, and I ain't changing my mind.
For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black: because I have spoken {it}, I have purposed {it}, and will not repent, neither will I turn back from it.
The whole city’s gonna dip from the noise of the riders and archers; they’ll hide in the bushes and climb the rocks: every city will be empty, no one chillin’ there.
The whole city shall flee for the noise of the horsemen and bowmen; they shall go into thickets, and climb up upon the rocks: every city {shall be} forsaken, and not a man dwell therein.
When you get wrecked, what’s the move? Even if you drape yourself in red, flex gold bling, or paint your face, it’s all for nothing; your lovers will ghost you, and they’ll be coming for your life.
And {when} thou {art} spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; {thy} lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life. {face: Heb. eyes}
I heard a girl in distress, like she's about to drop her first baby, vibes are heavy. The daughter of Zion is out here like, "Woe is me! I'm so drained from these savage murderers."
For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, {and} the anguish as of her that bringeth forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, {that} bewaileth herself, {that} spreadeth her hands, {saying}, Woe {is} me now! for my soul is wearied because of murderers.
