Jeremiah Chapter 3
They be asking, if a dude bounces on his girl and she’s with someone else, can he just slide back into her DMs? That situation be sus, but you’ve been out here playing games; yet still wanna roll back to me, says the Lord.
They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the LORD. {They say: Heb. Saying}
Peep the high spots and check where you ain’t been vibing. You’ve been acting wild like an Arabian in the desert; you’ve totally wrecked the land with your crazy habits.
Lift up thine eyes unto the high places, and see where thou hast not been lien with. In the ways hast thou sat for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness; and thou hast polluted the land with thy whoredoms and with thy wickedness.
So the rain's been ghosting you, and you got that whore's vibe, acting like you ain't even tripping, fr.
Therefore the showers have been withholden, and there hath been no latter rain; and thou hadst a whore's forehead, thou refusedst to be ashamed.
You ain't gonna hit me up this time, saying, 'Yo, my dad, you were my ride or die back in the day?'
Wilt thou not from this time cry unto me, My father, thou {art} the guide of my youth?
Is he really gonna stay mad forever? I mean, for real? You’ve been out here doing savage stuff, no cap.
Will he reserve {his anger} for ever? will he keep {it} to the end? Behold, thou hast spoken and done evil things as thou couldest.
The Lord slid into my thoughts during Josiah’s reign, asking if I saw what Israel was doing with all that backsliding? She’s climbing mountains and chilling under trees, acting all wild.
The LORD said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen {that} which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot.
I was like, after she did all that, 'Come back to me.' But she didn’t even care. Her sus sister Judah was peeping the whole time.
And I said after she had done all these {things}, Turn thou unto me. But she returned not. And her treacherous sister Judah saw {it}.
I realized I had to let her go because of all the sus stuff backsliding Israel did; I even gave her the breakup note, but her shady sister Judah was just as reckless.
And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.
And for real, she messed up the land with her crazy ways, committing adultery with rocks and trees.
And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks. {lightness: or, fame}
Yet after all this, her shady sister Judah didn’t come back to me with her whole heart, just played it fake, says the Lord.
And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the LORD. {feignedly: Heb. in falsehood}
And the Lord told me, backsliding Israel is more justified than shady Judah.
And the LORD said unto me, The backsliding Israel hath justified herself more than treacherous Judah.
Go and drop these words to the north, telling them, 'Yo, return, backsliding Israel,' says the Lord; I won't unleash my anger on you 'cause I’m merciful, periodt.
Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; {and} I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I {am} merciful, saith the LORD, {and} I will not keep {anger} for ever.
Just own up to your wrongs, that you’ve messed up against the Lord your God and scattered your vibes to strangers under every tree; you didn’t hear my voice, says the Lord.
Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the LORD thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the LORD.
Turn back, backsliding kids, says the Lord; I’m committed to you: I’ll scoop you from a city and two from a fam, and bring you to Zion.
Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:
I’ll hook you up with pastors that vibe with me, feeding you knowledge and understanding.
And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.
And when you blow up and thrive in the land, in those days, says the Lord, they won’t even mention the ark of the covenant anymore; it won’t even pop into their minds.
And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit {it}; neither shall {that} be done any more. {come to mind: Heb. come upon the heart} {that...: or, it be magnified}
Back then, they’ll call Jerusalem the throne of the Lord; all the nations will gather there, to the name of the Lord, to Jerusalem; they won’t be chasing after their evil thoughts anymore.
At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart. {imagination: or, stubbornness}
In those days, Judah will roll deep with Israel, and they’ll come together from the north to the land I gave to your fam.
In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers. {with: or, to} {given...: or, caused your fathers to possess}
But I was like, how do I connect you with the kids and give you a dope land, a lit heritage of nations? You’ll call me 'My dad' and not ghost me.
But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me. {from me: Heb. from after me} {a goodly...: Heb. an heritage of glory, or, beauty} {pleasant...: Heb. land of desire}
Just like a wife ditches her husband, you’ve been shady with me, O house of Israel, says the Lord.
Surely {as} a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the LORD. {husband: Heb. friend}
A voice was heard on the high spots, crying and begging from the kids of Israel; they’ve messed up their path and forgotten the Lord their God.
A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping {and} supplications of the children of Israel: for they have perverted their way, {and} they have forgotten the LORD their God.
Return, backsliding kids, and I’ll heal your backslidings. We’re coming to you, 'cause you’re our God, no cap.
Return, ye backsliding children, {and} I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou {art} the LORD our God.
Honestly, hoping for salvation from the hills and mountains is a joke; true salvation for Israel is in the Lord our God.
Truly in vain {is salvation hoped for} from the hills, {and from} the multitude of mountains: truly in the LORD our God {is} the salvation of Israel.
For shame has devoured the grind of our fathers since we were kids; their flocks, herds, sons, and daughters.
For shame hath devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.
We’re lying down in our shame, and confusion is all over us; we’ve sinned against the Lord our God, us and our fathers, since we were kids until now, and haven’t listened to the Lord our God.
We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.
