James Chapter 3
Ayo crew, don’t let too many of y’all take charge, 'cause we’re gonna face some serious outcomes.
My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation. {condemnation: or, judgment}
We all trip up in countless ways. If someone can keep it 100 with their words, they’re basically flawless and can call the shots on everything.
For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same {is} a perfect man, {and} able also to bridle the whole body.
Check this out, we throw bits in horses’ mouths so they follow our lead; we can totally steer their whole vibe.
Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
Look at those massive ships, right? They get tossed around by crazy winds, but a tiny rudder can direct them wherever the captain desires.
Behold also the ships, which though {they be} so great, and {are} driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
The tongue may be small but it packs a punch. Just think about how a single spark can ignite a huge blaze!
Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! {a matter: or, wood}
The tongue is like a blazing fire, a whole realm of chaos; it ruins our entire vibe and sparks all sorts of drama straight from the pit.
And the tongue {is} a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. {course: Gr. wheel}
Every beast, bird, and creature from the sea can be tamed by humans, for real.
For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: {kind: Gr. nature} {mankind: Gr. nature of man}
But no one can rein in the tongue; it's a wild evil, loaded with toxic vibes.
But the tongue can no man tame; {it is} an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
We use it to praise God, the Father, but then we throw shade at folks made in His image.
Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
From the same mouth come blessings and curses. Fam, that can’t be the vibe.
Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
Can a fountain flow sweet and bitter water simultaneously? Nah.
Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet {water} and bitter? {place: or, hole}
Can a fig tree, fam, produce olives? Or a vine, figs? No fountain spills both salty and fresh water.
Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so {can} no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.
Who out here is the wise one? Let them flex their good vibes with chill chats and humble wisdom.
Who {is} a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
But if you’ve got envy and drama in your hearts, don’t act like you’re keeping it real about the truth.
But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
This wisdom ain’t from above; it’s earthly, all about the feels, and kinda sus.
This wisdom descendeth not from above, but {is} earthly, sensual, devilish. {sensual: or, natural}
Where there’s jealousy and drama, confusion and every bad vibe come along.
For where envying and strife {is}, there {is} confusion and every evil work. {confusion: Gr. tumult, or, unquietness}
But wisdom from above is pure, chill, gentle, and easy to vibe with, filled with mercy and good fruits, no bias, no cap.
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, {and} easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. {partiality: or, wrangling}
And the fruit of righteousness is planted in peace by those who cultivate peace.
And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
