James Chapter 2
Listen up, fam, don’t show off that faith in our guy Jesus, the ultimate vibe, while low-key judging people on their drip.
My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, {the Lord} of glory, with respect of persons.
So if a dude shows up in your spot rocking a gold ring and fresh fits, but then a broke guy in torn clothes rolls in too;
For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; {assembly: Gr. synagogue}
And you’re all like, “Ayo, come kick it in the VIP,” to the one in the fly gear, while telling the poor guy to sit at your feet:
And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: {in...: or, well, or, seemly}
Aren’t you just acting sus and being like judges with some shady thoughts?
Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?
Pay attention, my beloved peeps, hasn’t God chosen the broke folks to be rich in faith and heirs to the kingdom he promised to those who vibe with him?
Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? {of the: or, of that}
But you’re out here looking down on the poor. Don’t the rich folks flex on you and drag you to court?
But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?
Aren’t they trashing that dope name you roll with?
Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called? {blaspheme: or, revile, or, slander}
If you’re living out that royal law from the scriptures, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you’re definitely doing it right:
If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:
But if you’re judging people based on their status, you’re straight-up sinning, and you know the law calls you out for that.
But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
'Cause if you keep the entire law but slip up once, you’re guilty of everything, no cap.
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one {point}, he is guilty of all.
So like, the one who said, "Don’t cheat," also said, "Don’t kill." If you don’t cheat but then go kill, you’re still breaking the rules, no cap.
For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. {he that: or, that law which}
Just vibing and doing your thing, knowing you're gonna get judged by the freedom law.
So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
If you show no mercy, you’re gonna get judged with no mercy; but mercy is like, "I got your back," against judgment.
For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment. {rejoiceth: or, glorieth}
What’s the deal, fam? If someone claims they got faith but no works, can that faith actually save them?
What {doth it} profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
If a bro or sis is out here naked and hungry, that’s mad sus.
If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
And if you’re like, "Peace out, stay warm and eat," but don’t actually help them, what’s the point?
And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be {ye} warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what {doth it} profit?
For real, faith without works is just dead vibes, like, completely alone.
Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. {alone: Gr. by itself}
Yeah, someone might say, "I got faith," and another’s like, "I got works." Show me your faith without your works, and I’ll show you mine through my works, fr.
Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. {without: some copies read, by}
You believe there’s one God? Bet, that’s cool. Even the demons believe and are shook.
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
But do you really get it, my dude? Faith without works is just dead, fr.
But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
Wasn't Abraham our dude justified by his grind when he offered Isaac on the altar?
Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
You see how faith was vibing with his actions, and through those actions, faith leveled up?
Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? {Seest...: or, Thou seest}
The scripture popped off, saying Abraham believed God, and that got him the righteous badge—he was called God's homie.
And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
So you see, a dude gets justified by his works, not just by faith alone, no cap.
Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
And wasn’t Rahab the hustler also justified by her grind when she helped the messengers and sent them on a different path?
Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent {them} out another way?
Just like a body without the spirit is totally dead, faith without works is also a no-go.
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. {spirit: or, breath}
