Isaiah Chapter 64
Ayo, could you just rip open the sky and slide down? Let the mountains get lit in your presence.
Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence,
Like how fire melts things, making the waters bubble up, revealing your name to the haters so the nations are shook in your vibe!
As {when} the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, {that} the nations may tremble at thy presence! {the melting...: Heb. the fire of meltings}
You pulled off some crazy stuff we didn’t even see coming, then you showed up, and the mountains were like, "Whoa!"
When thou didst terrible things {which} we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains flowed down at thy presence.
Fr, since the beginning, folks haven’t peeped or heard anything like what you’ve got in store for those who wait on you, no cap.
For since the beginning of the world {men} have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, {what} he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him. {seen...: or, seen a God beside thee, which doeth so for him, etc}
You chill with those who are hyped and do solid things, remembering you in their ways: but you’re mad 'cause we messed it up; in those is hope, and we’ll be saved.
Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, {those that} remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved.
But we’re all kinda sus, and our good moves are like dirty rags; we wither like leaves, and our wrongs just blow us away.
But we are all as an unclean {thing}, and all our righteousnesses {are} as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
And nobody's calling on your name, trying to grab you: you’ve hidden your face from us, and we’re finished because of our mess-ups.
And {there is} none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities. {consumed: Heb. melted} {because: Heb. by the hand}
But now, Lord, you’re our father; we’re the clay, and you’re the potter; we’re all your creation.
But now, O LORD, thou {art} our father; we {are} the clay, and thou our potter; and we all {are} the work of thy hand.
Don’t be too vexed, Lord, and don’t hold our wrongs against us forever: on the real, we’re all your squad.
Be not wroth very sore, O LORD, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold, see, we beseech thee, we {are} all thy people.
Your holy cities are totally wrecked, Zion’s a ghost town, and Jerusalem’s just a sad vibe.
Thy holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.
Our holy and beautiful spot, where our fam worshipped you, is all burnt down, and our good vibes are trashed.
Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burned up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste.
Are you just gonna kick back while all this goes down, Lord? Are you gonna stay silent and let us suffer hard?
Wilt thou refrain thyself for these {things}, O LORD? wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us very sore?
