Isaiah Chapter 33
Ayo, woe to you who be taking while dodging the payback; acting sus when no one’s even been sus with you! When you chill with the shadiness, you’ll get got; when you drop the drama, the drama will come for you.
Woe to thee that spoilest, and thou {wast} not spoiled; and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! when thou shalt cease to spoil, thou shalt be spoiled; {and} when thou shalt make an end to deal treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee.
Yo Lord, show us some mercy; we’ve been waiting on you: be our strength every morning, our savior when stuff gets rough.
O LORD, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be thou their arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.
When the chaos hit, folks bounced; when you rolled in, the nations scattered like they were ghosted.
At the noise of the tumult the people fled; at the lifting up of thyself the nations were scattered.
Your loot’s gonna be snatched up like caterpillar vibes: just like locusts, they’ll swarm on that.
And your spoil shall be gathered {like} the gathering of the caterpiller: as the running to and fro of locusts shall he run upon them.
The Lord’s on a whole different level; He’s way up high: He’s filled Zion with justice and solid vibes.
The LORD is exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion with judgment and righteousness.
Wisdom and knowledge gonna keep you grounded, and strength is the real key to salvation: the fear of the Lord is like pure gold.
And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, {and} strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD {is} his treasure. {salvation: Heb. salvations}
Peep it, the brave are crying out loud; the peacemakers are out here shedding tears.
Behold, their valiant ones shall cry without: the ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly. {valiant...: or, messengers}
The roads are all jacked up, travelers are ghosting: he broke the pact, dissed the cities, and he’s not checking for anyone.
The highways lie waste, the wayfaring man ceaseth: he hath broken the covenant, he hath despised the cities, he regardeth no man.
The earth’s feeling down; Lebanon’s ashamed and cut down; Sharon’s looking like a barren land; Bashan and Carmel are dropping their harvest.
The earth mourneth {and} languisheth: Lebanon is ashamed {and} hewn down: Sharon is like a wilderness; and Bashan and Carmel shake off {their fruits}. {hewn...: or, withered away}
Now I’m about to rise up, says the Lord; now I’m gonna flex; now I’ll lift myself high.
Now will I rise, saith the LORD; now will I be exalted; now will I lift up myself.
You’ll be spitting out chaff, producing nothing; your breath’s gonna be like fire, burning you alive.
Ye shall conceive chaff, ye shall bring forth stubble: your breath, {as} fire, shall devour you.
And the people will be like lime burning: like thorns getting chopped down, they’ll be lit on fire.
And the people shall be {as} the burnings of lime: {as} thorns cut up shall they be burned in the fire.
Listen up, you distant peeps, check out what I’ve done; and you close ones, recognize my power.
Hear, ye {that are} far off, what I have done; and, ye {that are} near, acknowledge my might.
The sinners in Zion are shook; fear’s got the fake ones tripping. Who’s gonna vibe with the fire that consumes everything? Who can handle the endless flames?
The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?
He who walks right and speaks the truth; he who disses the gains from oppressing others, shakes off bribes, blocks his ears from hearing bloodshed, and closes his eyes to evil;
He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil; {righteously: Heb. in righteousnesses} {uprightly: Heb. uprightnesses} {oppressions: or, deceits} {blood: Heb. bloods}
He’ll be up high: his safe spot will be solid rocks; he’ll get bread; his water will be all good.
He shall dwell on high: his place of defence {shall be} the munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters {shall be} sure. {high: Heb. heights, or, high places}
Your eyes will catch a glimpse of the king in all his glory: they’ll scope out the land that’s super far away.
Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off. {that...: Heb. of far distances}
Your heart’s gonna feel the fear. Where’s the writer at? Where’s the collector? Where’s the one counting the towers?
Thine heart shall meditate terror. Where {is} the scribe? where {is} the receiver? where {is} he that counted the towers? {receiver: Heb. weigher?}
You won’t see a fierce crew, a people talking in a way you can’t catch; with a stutter that’s hard to decode.
Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive; of a stammering tongue, {that thou canst} not understand. {stammering: or, ridiculous}
Look at Zion, the city of our gatherings: your eyes will see Jerusalem chilling peacefully, a tabernacle that won’t come down; not one stake will ever budge, and none of the cords will snap.
Look upon Zion, the city of our solemnities: thine eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tabernacle {that} shall not be taken down; not one of the stakes thereof shall ever be removed, neither shall any of the cords thereof be broken.
But there, the glorious Lord will be our place with wide rivers and streams; no ships with oars will cruise through, and no fancy boats will roll by.
But there the glorious LORD {will be} unto us a place of broad rivers {and} streams; wherein shall go no galley with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass thereby. {of...: Heb. broad of spaces, or, hands}
For the Lord’s our judge, our lawgiver, our king; He’s got our backs.
For the LORD {is} our judge, the LORD {is} our lawgiver, the LORD {is} our king; he will save us. {lawgiver: Heb. statutemaker}
Your gear’s all loose; they couldn’t even hold up their mast, couldn’t spread their sails: then the big spoil gets divided; the lame take the spoils.
Thy tacklings are loosed; they could not well strengthen their mast, they could not spread the sail: then is the prey of a great spoil divided; the lame take the prey. {Thy...: or, They have forsaken thy tacklings}
And the folks living there won’t say, 'I’m sick': the crew that dwells there will get their sins wiped clean.
And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein {shall be} forgiven {their} iniquity.
