Isaiah Chapter 10
So like, woe to the ones crafting shady laws and writing straight-up bogus stuff they made up;
Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness {which} they have prescribed; {that write...: or, to the writers that write grievousness}
They’re out here blocking the needy from getting their justice and snatching rights from the poor, treating widows like they’re just prey, fr.
To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and {that} they may rob the fatherless!
So what’s the move when the big day comes and everything goes down? Who you gonna hit up for help, and where you gonna stash your clout?
And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation {which} shall come from far? to whom will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory?
Without me, they'll be bowing to the prisoners, and they’ll fall with the slain. But for real, my anger ain’t cooling down, my hand’s still reaching out.
Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand {is} stretched out still.
Yo, Assyrian, you’re my anger's instrument, and that staff you got is my rage, no cap.
O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation. {O...: or, Woe to the Assyrian: Heb. Asshur} {and: or, though}
I’m sending him to a fake nation, giving him the green light to scoop the loot and stomp on them like mud in the streets.
I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets. {tread...: Heb. lay them a treading}
But for real, he ain’t thinking like you think; deep down, he just wants to wipe out a bunch of nations, no lie.
Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but {it is} in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.
He's like, “Aren’t my peeps all kings, though?”
For he saith, {Are} not my princes altogether kings?
Isn’t Calno just like Carchemish? Isn’t Hamath just like Arpad? Isn’t Samaria just like Damascus?
{Is} not Calno as Carchemish? {is} not Hamath as Arpad? {is} not Samaria as Damascus?
My hand found all those idol kingdoms, and their carvings didn’t even vibe with what was in Jerusalem and Samaria; that’s wild.
As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria;
So like, should I not do to Jerusalem and her idols what I did to Samaria and her crew?
Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?
For real, when the Lord finishes His whole situation on Mount Zion and Jerusalem, I’m gonna call out the king of Assyria for being all high and mighty.
Wherefore it shall come to pass, {that} when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks. {punish: Heb. visit upon} {stout...: Heb. greatness of the heart}
He’s like, "I did this all by my own power and smarts," thinking he’s so clever, but I've just taken what’s theirs and flexed on them hard.
For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done {it}, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant {man}: {a valiant...: or, many people}
My hand scooped up their riches like a boss; I gathered all the earth while no one even flinched or said a word.
And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs {that are} left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped.
Can the axe flex on the one chopping with it? Or can the saw act all special against the one using it? That’s like a stick trying to act like it’s not just wood.
Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? {or} shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake {itself} against them that lift it up, {or} as if the staff should lift up {itself, as if it were} no wood. {the rod...: or, a rod should shake them that lift it up} {itself, as if...: or, that which is not wood}
So the Lord of hosts is gonna send some struggle to his big shots; under His glory, it’s gonna spark a fire that’s lit.
Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire.
The light of Israel is gonna be like a fire, and His Holy One is gonna be a flame, burning through all the thorns and brambles in a day, no cap.
And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day;
It’s gonna wipe out the glory of his forest and fruitful fields, body and soul; they’ll be like when someone holding a flag just collapses.
And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a standardbearer fainteth. {both...: Heb. from the soul, and even to the flesh}
The rest of the trees in his forest are gonna be so few that even a kid could count them.
And the rest of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may write them. {few: Heb. number}
And on that day, the remnant of Israel and those who made it out from Jacob’s house won’t lean on the one who hurt them anymore; they’ll trust in the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, for real.
And it shall come to pass in that day, {that} the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.
The squad's coming back, even the remnant of Jacob, to the big guy upstairs.
The remnant shall return, {even} the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God.
Even though Israel's peeps are like beach vibes, a remnant's still gonna return: the vibe check is all about that righteousness.
For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, {yet} a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness. {of them: Heb. in, or, among, etc} {with: or, in}
The Lord God of hosts is gonna handle business, no cap, right in the middle of the land.
For the Lord GOD of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land.
So the Lord God of hosts is like, "Yo, my people in Zion, don’t sweat the Assyrian: he might hit you with a stick, but it’s chill, just like Egypt."
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt. {and shall...: or, but he shall lift up his staff for}
Just hang tight, fam, the drama's gonna chill out soon, and my anger will cool when they get wrecked.
For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction.
The Lord of hosts is gonna whip up a serious vibe for him, just like the Midian drama at the rock of Oreb: and just like his stick was on the sea, he’s gonna flex it like Egypt.
And the LORD of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and {as} his rod {was} upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt.
On that day, his weight's gonna be lifted off your shoulders, and the yoke off your neck, 'cause that anointing is straight fire.
And it shall come to pass in that day, {that} his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing. {be taken...: Heb. remove}
He’s rolling through Aiath, then hitting Migron; at Michmash, he’s parked his ride.
He is come to Aiath, he is passed to Migron; at Michmash he hath laid up his carriages:
They crossed over the spot: they’re crashing at Geba; Ramah’s shook; Gibeah of Saul’s dipped.
They are gone over the passage: they have taken up their lodging at Geba; Ramah is afraid; Gibeah of Saul is fled.
Shout out, daughter of Gallim: make sure the vibes reach Laish, O poor Anathoth.
Lift up thy voice, O daughter of Gallim: cause it to be heard unto Laish, O poor Anathoth. {Lift...: Heb. Cry shrill with}
Madmenah is outta here; the crew from Gebim is dipping fast.
Madmenah is removed; the inhabitants of Gebim gather themselves to flee.
He’s chilling at Nob that day, throwing shade at the hill of Zion, the spot in Jerusalem.
As yet shall he remain at Nob that day: he shall shake his hand {against} the mount of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.
Yo, the Lord of hosts is coming in hot, chopping down the big shots, and the high and mighty are about to get humbled, no cap.
Behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, shall lop the bough with terror: and the high ones of stature {shall be} hewn down, and the haughty shall be humbled.
He’s gonna clear out the forest with iron tools, and Lebanon’s gonna drop like a boss.
And he shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one. {by...: or, mightily}
