Hosea Chapter 8
So let that trumpet blast, fam. God’s diving in like an eagle on the crib 'cause they broke the commandments, no cap.
{Set} the trumpet to thy mouth. {He shall come} as an eagle against the house of the LORD, because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law. {thy: Heb. the roof of thy}
Israel's out here like, "Yo, we see you, God."
Israel shall cry unto me, My God, we know thee.
Israel ditched the solid vibes; the foes are coming for them, fr.
Israel hath cast off {the thing that is} good: the enemy shall pursue him.
Kings are popping up, but not with my say-so: crafted idols from their dough, that’s just sus.
They have set up kings, but not by me: they have made princes, and I knew {it} not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.
Your calf, Samaria, is straight ghosting you; I'm mad about it: how long till they play innocent?
Thy calf, O Samaria, hath cast {thee} off; mine anger is kindled against them: how long {will it be} ere they attain to innocency?
That calf ain't even from the Almighty; some dude whipped it up, and it’s about to get wrecked, periodt.
For from Israel {was} it also: the workman made it; therefore it {is} not God: but the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.
They sowed the wind, now they’re catching a storm: no growth here, just empty vibes.
For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk: the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up. {stalk: or, standing corn}
Israel's getting chomped down; they’re just chilling with the Gentiles like a busted vessel.
Israel is swallowed up: now shall they be among the Gentiles as a vessel wherein {is} no pleasure.
They dipped to Assyria, a solo act out here: Ephraim's out here chasing after love interests.
For they are gone up to Assyria, a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers. {lovers: Heb. loves}
Even while they’re vibing with the nations, I’ll scoop them up, and they’ll feel the king’s heavy drama.
Yea, though they have hired among the nations, now will I gather them, and they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the king of princes. {sorrow: or, begin} {a...: or, in a little while}
Ephraim's stacked altars for sin, so those altars are just bringing him trouble.
Because Ephraim hath made many altars to sin, altars shall be unto him to sin.
I dropped some serious law wisdom on him, but they treated it like it was whack, fr.
I have written to him the great things of my law, {but} they were counted as a strange thing.
They’re grilling meat for offerings, but God ain't vibing with it; He’ll remember their wrongs and send them back to Egypt.
They sacrifice flesh {for} the sacrifices of mine offerings, and eat {it; but} the LORD accepteth them not; now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt. {They sacrifice...: or, In the sacrifices of mine offerings they, etc}
Israel forgot their Creator and built temples; Judah's stacking cities, but I'm about to blaze up their towns and torch their palaces, no cap.
For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and buildeth temples; and Judah hath multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the palaces thereof.
