Hebrews Chapter 12
So, given that we got a whole crew of witnesses supporting us, let's ditch the baggage and the sins that hold us back, and run this race with patience, for real.
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset {us}, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Keep your gaze locked on Jesus, the real MVP of our faith; he faced major struggles for the joy that was coming, shrugged off the shame, and is chillin' at God's right side, no doubt.
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of {our} faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. {author: or, beginner}
Reflect on the one who dealt with all that drama from sinners, so you don’t get worn out and lose your swagger.
For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
You haven't even spilled blood yet in the battle against sin, no cap.
Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.
Don't sleep on the advice that hits you like a parental figure saying, “Yo, don’t be bitter about the Lord’s discipline, and don’t lose it when he checks you.”
And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
Since the Lord loves you, he’s gonna keep you grounded, reppin' every child he accepts.
For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
If you can take the discipline, God’s treating you like family; what kid doesn’t get some tough love?
If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
But if you’re not being disciplined, then you’re just out here, no cap, not part of the crew.
But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
Plus, we had earthly pops who corrected us, and we respected them; shouldn’t we show even more respect to the Father of spirits and really live?
Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected {us}, and we gave {them} reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
They disciplined us for a bit based on their vibes; but God does it for our benefit, so we can vibe with his holiness.
For they verily for a few days chastened {us} after their own pleasure; but he for {our} profit, that {we} might be partakers of his holiness. {after...: or, as seemed good, or, meet to them}
Going through hard times isn't a vibe, but for real, it brings some righteous vibes later on.
Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
So, raise those hands up and straighten out those weak knees; let’s get it!
Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;
Make sure your path is on point, fam, so the lame don’t get lost; let’s heal that instead.
And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. {straight: or, even}
Pursue peace with everyone and keep it holy, 'cause no cap, you gotta see the Lord.
Follow peace with all {men}, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
Stay alert so no one misses out on God’s grace; don’t let bitterness ruin your vibe.
Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble {you}, and thereby many be defiled; {fail...; or, fall from}
Don’t be like Esau, selling out for some food; that's sus behavior.
Lest there {be} any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.
You know later he wanted that blessing but got left on read; he couldn’t find a way back, even with tears.
For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears. {place...: or, way to change his mind}
You didn’t show up to a mountain you could touch, all fiery and dark; that’s not the vibe.
For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,
And there was a trumpet sound, and people were like, “Nah, we don’t want to hear that anymore.”
And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which {voice} they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:
They couldn’t handle the rules, and if even a beast touched that mountain, it was game over.
(For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:
Moses was shook, fam. He was like, “This vibe is way too intense, I’m lowkey freaking out.”
And so terrible was the sight, {that} Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:)
But y’all just rolled up to Mount Zion, the city of the living God, heavenly Jerusalem, and a whole squad of angels, no cap.
But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
To the crew of firstborns, all written in heaven, and to God, the ultimate Judge, and the spirits of the righteous, all goated.
To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, {written: or, enrolled}
And to Jesus, the ultimate mediator of the new deal, whose blood is dropping truth that’s way better than Abel’s.
And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than {that of} Abel. {covenant: or, testament}
Don’t ignore the one who’s speaking. If they didn’t vibe with the one who spoke on earth, we definitely can't bounce if we ghost the one from heaven.
See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more {shall not} we {escape}, if we turn away from him that {speaketh} from heaven:
His voice shook the earth, but now he’s like, “I’m about to shake not just the earth but heaven too, for real.”
Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.
This “once more” means he’s removing all the sus stuff so that what’s solid can stay lit.
And this {word}, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. {are shaken: or, may be shaken}
So since we’re receiving a kingdom that’s unshakeable, let’s be grateful and serve God with mad respect and holy fear, periodt.
Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: {let...: or, let us hold fast}
Our God is a fire that consumes everything, no cap.
For our God {is} a consuming fire.
