Genesis Chapter 33
So Jacob peeped up and noticed Esau rollin' in with 400 homies. He split the kiddos between Leah, Rachel, and the two handmaids.
And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids.
He had the handmaids and their little ones at the front, Leah and her squad next, while Rachel and Joseph were just chillin' in the back.
And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindermost.
He stepped out in front of them and hit the ground seven times, just flexin' before his bro.
And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.
Esau dashed toward him, embraced him tight, fell on his neck, and dropped a kiss. They were both in their feels, no cap.
And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept.
Jacob peeped at the women and kids, and Esau was like, "Who are these peeps rollin' with you?" Jacob replied, "Just the kids God blessed me with, fam."
And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who {are} those with thee? And he said, The children which God hath graciously given thy servant. {with...: Heb. to thee}
Then the handmaids and their kiddos stepped up, bowin' down to show mad respect.
Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves.
Leah and her crew came up next, bowin' down too; then Joseph and Rachel came through, and they bowed as well.
And Leah also with her children came near, and bowed themselves: and after came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves.
Esau was curious, asking, "What’s the deal with all this crew I bumped into?" Jacob said, "Just tryna score some favor in your sight, bro."
And he said, What {meanest} thou by all this drove which I met? And he said, {These are} to find grace in the sight of my lord. {What...: Heb. What is all this band to thee?}
Esau was like, "I’m good, bro; keep what you got for yourself."
And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself. {keep...: Heb. be that to thee that is thine}
Jacob was all, "Nah, please take my gift; if I found favor in your eyes, it’s like seeing God’s face, and you’re vibin' with me."
And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me.
Yo, take my blessing, fam. God’s been super chill with me, and I got more than enough. He really pushed him to take it.
Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough. And he urged him, and he took {it}. {enough: Heb. all things}
He was like, “Let’s bounce, and I’ll lead the way.”
And he said, Let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go before thee.
He told him, “My dude knows the kids are fragile, and I got young animals too. If we push them too hard, they’ll be toast.”
And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children {are} tender, and the flocks and herds with young {are} with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die.
“Please, let my dude go ahead of me. I’ll take it easy for the kids and the cattle until I catch up to you.”
Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children be able to endure, until I come unto my lord unto Seir. {according...: Heb. according to the foot of the work, etc., and according to the foot of the children}
Esau suggested, “Let me leave some of my crew with you.” Jacob replied, “What’s the point? Just let me vibe with you, bro.”
And Esau said, Let me now leave with thee {some} of the folk that {are} with me. And he said, What needeth it? let me find grace in the sight of my lord. {leave: Heb. set, or, place} {What...: Heb. Wherefore is this?}
So that day, Esau headed back to Seir.
So Esau returned that day on his way unto Seir.
Jacob cruised to Succoth, built a crib, and set up booths for his cattle. That’s why it’s called Succoth.
And Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built him an house, and made booths for his cattle: therefore the name of the place is called Succoth. {Succoth: that is, Booths}
Then Jacob hit up Shalem, a city in Shechem, after coming from Padan–aram; he pitched his tent right by the city.
And Jacob came to Shalem, a city of Shechem, which {is} in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padanaram; and pitched his tent before the city. {Shechem: Gr. Sychem}
He snagged a piece of land from the kids of Hamor, Shechem's pops, for a hundred bucks.
And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem's father, for an hundred pieces of money. {Hamor: Gr. Emmor} {pieces...: or, lambs}
He built an altar there and named it El–elohe–Israel.
And he erected there an altar, and called it Elelohe-Israel. {Elelohe-Israel: that is God the God of Israel}
