Genesis Chapter 13
Abram peaced outta Egypt with his wifey and all his belongings, plus Lot, cruising south.
And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south.
Abram was flexing serious stacks in livestock, silver, and gold.
And Abram {was} very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.
He was rolling from the south back to Beth-el, where he originally set up his tent, chillin' between Beth-el and Hai.
And he went on his journeys from the south even to Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Hai;
He swung by the altar he built there, calling out to God’s name, for real.
Unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the LORD.
Lot was tagging along with Abram too, bringing his own flocks, herds, and tents.
And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.
The land was way too crowded for them to vibe together; their energy was just too strong.
And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.
Drama erupted between Abram’s herders and Lot’s herders, while the Canaanite and Perizzite were also hanging in the vicinity.
And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle and the herdmen of Lot's cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land.
Abram said to Lot, “Let’s keep it chill between us and our herders; we’re basically family.”
And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we {be} brethren. {brethren: Heb. men brethren}
The entire land is up for grabs, so you choose: if you roll left, I’ll roll right; if you roll right, I’ll roll left, no cap.
{Is} not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if {thou wilt take} the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if {thou depart} to the right hand, then I will go to the left.
Lot scoped out the Jordan plain, it was an absolute water fest everywhere, before God wiped Sodom and Gomorrah off the map, kinda like the Garden of Eden, real talk like Egypt.
And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it {was} well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, {even} as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.
Lot was like, "I’m claiming the whole Jordan Valley," and dipped east, leaving Abram behind.
Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.
Abram was chilling in Canaan while Lot was in the cities of the plain, pitching his tent towards Sodom.
Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched {his} tent toward Sodom.
But the Sodom crew? Totally sus and wildin’ in front of the Lord, for real.
But the men of Sodom {were} wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.
The Lord told Abram, after Lot bounced, "Look up and peep the whole view: north, south, east, and west."
And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:
"All that land you peep? I'm giving it to you and your squad, for life."
For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
"I’ll make your offspring as numerous as the dust on the ground; if someone figures out how to count that, they can count your fam."
And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, {then} shall thy seed also be numbered.
"Get up, stroll through the land, it’s all yours."
Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.
So, Abram shifted his tent and settled in Mamre’s plain, which is in Hebron, and constructed an altar for the Lord there.
Then Abram removed {his} tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which {is} in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the LORD. {plain: Heb. plains}
