Amos Chapter 2
So the Lord was like, "For three strikes of Moab and four, I ain't gonna let it slide; they turned the king of Edom's bones into lime, no cap."
Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away {the punishment} thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime:
But I’m dropping fire on Moab, lighting up the palaces of Kerioth; Moab's about to go down with all the drama, screams, and trumpet vibes.
But I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth: and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, {and} with the sound of the trumpet:
I'm eliminating the judge from their midst and booting out all their leaders, says the Lord.
And I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith the LORD.
The Lord was like, "For three strikes of Judah and four, I ain't gonna let it slide; they disrespected my law and ignored my commands, and their lies left them lost, just like their ancestors."
Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away {the punishment} thereof; because they have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept his commandments, and their lies caused them to err, after the which their fathers have walked:
But I’m unleashing fire on Judah, and it's gonna consume the palaces of Jerusalem, fr.
But I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.
The Lord was like, "For three strikes of Israel and four, I ain't letting it slide; they sold the solid folks for silver and the needy for some sneakers."
Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away {the punishment} thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes;
They're all about putting dust on the heads of the poor, turning their backs on the humble; a dude and his dad are even chasing after the same girl, just disrespecting my name.
That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the {same} maid, to profane my holy name: {maid: or, young woman}
They crash on clothes vowed at every altar and sip the wine of the condemned in their god's crib, savage.
And they lay {themselves} down upon clothes laid to pledge by every altar, and they drink the wine of the condemned {in} the house of their god. {the condemned: or, such as have fined, or, mulcted}
I wiped out the Amorite before them; he was tall like cedars and strong like oaks, but I snatched his fruit from above and roots from below, periodt.
Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height {was} like the height of the cedars, and he {was} strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.
Plus, I brought you up from Egypt and guided you through the desert for forty years to claim the land of the Amorite, no cap.
Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.
I raised your sons as prophets and your young men as Nazarites. Is that not real, O children of Israel? says the Lord.
And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. {Is it} not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the LORD.
But you gave the Nazarites wine to drink and told the prophets, "Chill on the prophecies," that's sus.
But ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.
Peep this, I'm feeling crushed under you like a cart full of sheaves, fr.
Behold, I am pressed under you, as a cart is pressed {that is} full of sheaves. {I am...: or, I will press your place, as a cart full of sheaves presseth}
So the speedy ones will be outta luck, and the strong won't flex their strength; even the mighty can't save themselves.
Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver himself: {himself: Heb. his soul, or, life}
The bowman won't stand tall, and the swift won't get away; even the horse riders can't save themselves, no cap.
Neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and {he that is} swift of foot shall not deliver {himself}: neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself.
And the brave among the mighty will run off naked that day, says the Lord.
And {he that is} courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, saith the LORD. {courageous: Heb. strong of his heart}
