Zephaniah Chapter 1
Check it, this is the message from the Lord that came to Zephaniah, son of Cushi, who's related to Gedaliah, Amariah, and Hizkiah, during the reign of Josiah, son of Amon, king of Judah.
The word of the LORD which came unto Zephaniah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hizkiah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah.
God’s like, “I’m ready to erase everything from the land, no cap.”
I will utterly consume all {things} from off the land, saith the LORD. {I will...; Heb. By taking away I will make an end} {the land: Heb. the face of the land}
I’m taking out humans and creatures; I’ll wipe the birds in the sky, the fish in the ocean, and all the bad vibes from the wicked; I’m cutting off mankind from the land, says the Lord.
I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the LORD. {stumblingblocks: or, idols}
I’m reaching out to Judah and all those in Jerusalem; I’ll remove the last of the Baal worshippers and those Chemarim priests.
I will also stretch out mine hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, {and} the name of the Chemarims with the priests;
Also, those who vibe with the sky gang on their rooftops; and those who swear by the Lord and also by Malcham.
And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship {and} that swear by the LORD, and that swear by Malcham; {by the...: or, to the LORD}
And those who turned their backs on the Lord; plus those who haven’t even tried to seek Him.
And them that are turned back from the LORD; and {those} that have not sought the LORD, nor enquired for him.
Just chill in front of the Lord God, 'cause the day of the Lord is coming in hot: He’s got a sacrifice lined up and has summoned all his peeps.
Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord GOD: for the day of the LORD {is} at hand: for the LORD hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests. {bid: Heb. sanctified, or, prepared}
When that day rolls around for the Lord’s sacrifice, I’m gonna check the princes, the king’s offspring, and everyone rocking sus outfits.
And it shall come to pass in the day of the LORD'S sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king's children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel. {punish: Heb. visit upon}
On that day, I’ll come for those who leap over the threshold, filling their bosses’ houses with mad violence and lies.
In the same day also will I punish all those that leap on the threshold, which fill their masters' houses with violence and deceit.
And on that day, says the Lord, you’ll hear a loud shout from the fish gate, howling from the second, and a wild crash from the hills.
And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, {that there shall be} the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and an howling from the second, and a great crashing from the hills.
Howl, ya homies in Maktesh, ‘cause all the merchants are done for; those stacking silver are outta here.
Howl, ye inhabitants of Maktesh, for all the merchant people are cut down; all they that bear silver are cut off.
And when that time comes, I’ll search through Jerusalem with candles, calling out those who are just chilling with lazy vibes, thinking, “The Lord won’t do anything good or bad.”
And it shall come to pass at that time, {that} I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The LORD will not do good, neither will he do evil. {settled: Heb. curded, or, thickened}
So, all their stuff is gonna get snatched, and their homes will be empty; they’ll build houses but won’t live in them, and plant vineyards but won’t enjoy that wine.
Therefore their goods shall become a booty, and their houses a desolation: they shall also build houses, but not inhabit {them}; and they shall plant vineyards, but not drink the wine thereof.
The epic day of the Lord is on the way, super close, and it’s about to pop off; the mighty are gonna cry out hard.
The great day of the LORD {is} near, {it is} near, and hasteth greatly, {even} the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.
That day is all about wrath, trouble, and stress; it’s gonna be a wasteland, total desolation, dark and gloomy, with clouds everywhere.
That day {is} a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,
A day for the trumpet and alarms against the fortified cities and tall towers.
A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.
I’ll bring stress upon people, making them walk around like they’re blind, ‘cause they’ve messed up against the Lord: their blood will be like dust, and their flesh like waste.
And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.
Neither their silver nor their gold will save them when the Lord’s wrath comes; the whole land's gonna be burned up with His jealousy: He’s about to clear out everyone living there, fr.
Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD'S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.
