Psalms Chapter 49
Ayo, gather 'round, folks; all you people out here, listen closely:
[To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah.] Hear this, all {ye} people; give ear, all {ye} inhabitants of the world: {for: or, of}
Whether you’re on the low or flexing hard, rich or poor, we’re all in this together, no cap.
Both low and high, rich and poor, together.
I’m about to drop some knowledge; my heart's vibing with insight.
My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart {shall be} of understanding.
I’m tuning into a metaphor: gonna spill some profound thoughts on the strings.
I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.
Why should I freak out when times get tough, with all this bad energy around me?
Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, {when} the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?
Those who flaunt their dough and boast about their stacks;
They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;
None of them can rescue their friends or toss a bag to God for them:
None {of them} can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:
(Cuz saving lives is super valuable, and it’s a limited-time only deal:)
(For the redemption of their soul {is} precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)
So they can vibe eternally and skip the decay.
That he should still live for ever, {and} not see corruption.
They peep that wise people kick the bucket, just like the foolish and reckless, leaving their cash to others.
For he seeth {that} wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.
They believe their pads will stand forever, naming their estates after themselves, fr.
Their inward thought {is, that} their houses {shall continue} for ever, {and} their dwelling places to all generations; they call {their} lands after their own names. {all...: Heb. generation and generation}
But people of prestige don’t last: they’re like the animals that fade away.
Nevertheless man {being} in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts {that} perish.
This is their whole vibe, and it’s kinda sus: yet their fam still backs their claims. Selah.
This their way {is} their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah. {approve...: Heb. delight in their mouth}
They’re like sheep chilling in the tomb; death’s feasting on them; and the righteous will take over in the morning; their shine will dim in the grave.
Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling. {beauty: or, strength} {in the grave from...: or, the grave being an habitation to every one of them}
But God’s gonna rescue my soul from the grip of the grave: He’s got my back, no cap. Selah.
But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah. {power: Heb. hand} {the grave: or, hell}
Don’t trip when someone scores big, when their pad is looking lit;
Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
Cuz when they pass, they can’t take nothing with them: their glory won’t roll along.
For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.
Even if they blessed themselves while living, people will hype you up when you treat yourself right.
Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and {men} will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself. {while...: Heb. in his life}
They’ll roll with their ancestors; they’ll never see the light.
He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light. {He...: Heb. The soul shall}
A dude with honor who doesn’t get it is just like the animals that fade away.
Man {that is} in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts {that} perish.
