Psalms Chapter 44
Heard it loud and clear, God, our crew schooled us on the fire moves you made back in the day.
[To the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, Maschil.] We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, {what} work thou didst in their days, in the times of old. {Maschil: or, of instruction}
You totally kicked the haters to the curb with your hands, then set us up here; you made the squad bounce.
{How} thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; {how} thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out.
They didn’t grab the land with their own blades; it was your right hand and the shine of your face that rescued them, no cap.
For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.
You’re my King, God; bring those rescues for Jacob, for real.
Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob.
With you, we’ll take down our opponents; through your name, we’ll stomp anyone who tries to flex on us.
Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.
Not putting my trust in my bow, and my sword ain’t saving me, periodt.
For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.
But you’ve rescued us from the haters and made those who hate us look sus.
But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us.
We’re vibing on God all day, and we’ll rep your name forever. Selah.
In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.
Yet you’ve ghosted us and made us look questionable; you’re not rolling with our crew.
But thou hast cast off, and put us to shame; and goest not forth with our armies.
You make us dip from the enemies, and those who hate us are out here vibing off our L’s.
Thou makest us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves.
You’ve got us feeling like sheep ready for the grill, scattered among the vibes of the haters.
Thou hast given us like sheep {appointed} for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen. {like...: Heb. as sheep of meat}
You’re selling your people for pennies, and it ain’t boosting your game, fr.
Thou sellest thy people for nought, and dost not increase {thy wealth} by their price. {for...: Heb. without riches}
You've turned us into a joke to our neighbors, like a total meme to everyone around us.
Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.
You’ve made us a talking point among the non-believers, and people are just shaking their heads.
Thou makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people.
My confusion is always loud, and the shame on my face is covering me, no cap.
My confusion {is} continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,
It’s the noise of haters coming at me, thanks to the enemy and the one seeking revenge.
For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and avenger.
All this has hit us hard; still, we haven’t forgotten you or played you dirty in our deal.
All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant.
Our hearts haven’t turned back, and we haven’t dipped from your path, periodt.
Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way; {steps: or, goings}
Even though you’ve really smashed us in the dragon zone and covered us with the shadow of death.
Though thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death.
If we’ve forgotten the name of our God or called out to some random god;
If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god;
Yo, doesn’t God see everything? He knows all the secrets in our hearts, no cap.
Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.
For real, we’re getting wrecked all day, just like sheep headed for the chop.
Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.
Wake up, Lord! Why you snoozing? Don’t ghost us forever, fam.
Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast {us} not off for ever.
Why you hiding, though? You forgetting our struggle and pain? That’s sus.
Wherefore hidest thou thy face, {and} forgettest our affliction and our oppression?
Our souls are lowkey crushed, like we’re straight up on the floor.
For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth.
Step up and help us out, please! Do it for the sake of your mercy, fr.
Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies' sake. {for our...: Heb. a help for us}
