James Chapter 5
Listen up, wealthy folks, it's time to sob and wail 'cause your troubles are on the way, no cap.
Go to now, {ye} rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon {you}.
Your dough is all jacked up, and your wardrobe is looking ragged, fr.
Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
Your bling and coinage are totally corroded; that corrosion is gonna testify against you and blaze like fire. You’ve hoarded riches for the end times, bet.
Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.
Peep this, the wages for the workers who picked your crops are being held back by deception, and they’re crying out; their cries have hit the Lord's ears, no cap.
Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth. {sabaoth: Heb. hosts}
You’ve been living large on this planet, going off; you’ve stuffed yourselves like it’s a feast day, periodt.
Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.
You’ve condemned and taken down the innocent, and they’re not even throwing hands back, savage.
Ye have condemned {and} killed the just; {and} he doth not resist you.
So chill for a bit, fam, until the Lord shows up. The farmer's waiting for the solid harvest and has mad patience for it, until the early and late rain hits, fr.
Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. {Be...: or, Be long patient, or, Suffer with long patience}
You too, keep it patient; align your hearts, 'cause the Lord's about to roll in, hot.
Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
Don’t hold onto grudges against each other, fam, or you’ll face judgment; the judge is literally at the door, no cap.
Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door. {Grudge not: or, Groan, or, Grieve not}
Look to the prophets for some inspo on handling tough times and staying patient, bet.
Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.
For real, we call those blessed who stick it out. You’ve heard about Job’s vibes and seen how the Lord came through; He’s mad compassionate and loaded with mercy, fr.
Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
But seriously, don’t swear by heaven, earth, or anything in between; just let your yes be yes and your no be no, or you might catch some heat, periodt.
But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and {your} nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.
Feeling down? Pray it out. Got a good vibe? Sing some psalms, lit.
Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
Is someone struggling? Hit up the church elders and let them pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord.
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
The prayer of faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will lift them up; if they’ve slipped, they’ll be forgiven, fr.
And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
Own up to your mistakes with each other and pray for one another so you can heal. The prayer of a righteous person packs a punch, no cap.
Confess {your} faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Elijah was just like us and prayed hard for no rain, and it didn't rain for three and a half years, bet.
Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. {subject...: of the same nature, that is, a fellow mortal} {earnestly: or, in his prayer}
Then he prayed again, and the sky sent the rain, and the earth gave up its harvest, lit.
And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
Listen, if any of you stray off the path and someone pulls them back;
Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
Let them know that pulling a sinner from their wrongs will rescue a soul from death and cover a whole lot of sins, periodt.
Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
