Isaiah Chapter 8
So the Lord was like, "Yo, grab a massive scroll and jot down some tea about Maher–shalal–hash–baz."
Moreover the LORD said unto me, Take thee a great roll, and write in it with a man's pen concerning Mahershalalhashbaz. {Mahershalalhashbaz: Heb. In making speed to the spoil he hasteneth the prey, or, Make speed, etc}
I pulled in some real ones to roll with me, Uriah the priest and Zechariah, Jeberechiah's kid.
And I took unto me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.
I hit up the prophetess, and she got pregnant, popping out a son. God was like, "Call him Maher–shalal–hash–baz."
And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bare a son. Then said the LORD to me, Call his name Mahershalalhashbaz. {went: Heb. approached}
Before this kid can even drop a "Mom" or "Dad," the wealth of Damascus and the goods from Samaria are gonna be snatched by the Assyrian king.
For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria. {the riches...: or, he that is before the king of Assyria shall take away the riches, etc}
The Lord hit me up again, saying,
The LORD spake also unto me again, saying,
These peeps are snoozing on the chill waters of Shiloah and vibing with Rezin and Remaliah's son;
Forasmuch as this people refuseth the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah's son;
So no cap, the Lord’s bringing in river waters, hella strong and overflowing, like the Assyrian king and all his hype: he’s gonna flood everything.
Now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters of the river, strong and many, {even} the king of Assyria, and all his glory: and he shall come up over all his channels, and go over all his banks:
He’s gonna roll through Judah, overflow, and even reach up to the neck; his wings gonna cover your entire land, Immanuel.
And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall reach {even} to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel. {stretching...: Heb. fulness of the breadth of thy land shall be the stretchings out of his wings}
Gather up, fam, or you’re about to get wrecked; listen up, all you distant peeps: gear up, or you’ll be broken too, no cap.
Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces. {people and: or, people, yet}
Plan all you want, but it’s gonna flop; say what you need to say, but it won’t hit, 'cause God’s got our back.
Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God {is} with us.
The Lord straight-up told me with authority, like, "Don’t follow the crowd, fam," saying,
For the LORD spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying, {with...: Heb. in strength of hand}
"Don’t call it a crew when they call it a crew; don’t fear what they fear or get shook."
Say ye not, A confederacy, to all {them to} whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid.
Keep it real with the Lord of hosts; let Him be your vibe and your fear.
Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and {let} him {be} your fear, and {let} him {be} your dread.
He’s gonna be your safe space, but a total stumbling block for both houses of Israel, a trap for the peeps in Jerusalem.
And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
A lot of them are gonna trip, fall, get wrecked, caught up, and taken.
And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.
Lock down the testimony, seal the law with my crew.
Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.
I’m waiting on the Lord, who’s hiding from Jacob’s house, and I’m searching for Him.
And I will wait upon the LORD, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.
Check it, me and the kids God blessed me with are signs and wonders in Israel from the Lord of hosts, who’s vibing at Mount Zion.
Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me {are} for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.
When they say, "Go peep those with familiar spirits and witches who whisper and mumble," like, shouldn’t people just seek their God? For the living to the dead?
And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?
Stick to the law and the testimony: if they ain’t vibing with this word, it’s 'cause there’s no light in them.
To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, {it is} because {there is} no light in them. {no...: Heb. no morning}
They’re gonna struggle through it, barely hanging on and famished; and when they’re starving, they’ll freak out, cursing their king and God, looking up.
And they shall pass through it, hardly bestead and hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse their king and their God, and look upward.
They’ll check out the earth and see chaos and darkness, deep anguish; they’ll be pushed into the shadows.
And they shall look unto the earth; and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish; and {they shall be} driven to darkness.
