Isaiah Chapter 48
Yo, check it, house of Jacob, aka Israel, who dipped outta Judah's waters and swear by the Lord's name but ain’t keeping it 100, fr.
Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, {but} not in truth, nor in righteousness.
They call themselves the holy city, reppin' the God of Israel; the Lord of hosts is his name, no cap.
For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts {is} his name.
I've been dropping knowledge since day one; what I said went off, and it went down just like that.
I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did {them} suddenly, and they came to pass.
I peeped your stubbornness; your neck is hard as iron, and your forehead's got that brass vibe.
Because I knew that thou {art} obstinate, and thy neck {is} an iron sinew, and thy brow brass; {obstinate: Heb. hard}
I hit you up from the jump; before it went down, I showed you so you wouldn’t flex and say your idols made it happen.
I have even from the beginning declared {it} to thee; before it came to pass I shewed {it} thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.
You caught all this, so why not spill it? I showed you new stuff, even hidden gems, and you didn’t even catch on.
Thou hast heard, see all this; and will not ye declare {it}? I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou didst not know them.
They just dropped now, not from the beginning; even before you heard 'em, so you can’t say, 'I knew that.'
They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them.
Yeah, you didn’t peep; yeah, you didn’t know; from when your ears were closed, I knew you’d be sus, and you’ve been a transgressor since day one.
Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time {that} thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb.
For my name's sake, I'll hold back my anger and chill for you, so I don’t cut you off, periodt.
For my name's sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.
Look, I’ve forged you, but not with silver; I picked you out in the furnace of struggle, lit.
Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. {with...: or, for silver}
For my own sake, for real, I’ll do it: how could my name get messed up? I won’t share my glory with anyone else.
For mine own sake, {even} for mine own sake, will I do {it}: for how should {my name} be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.
Listen up, Jacob and Israel, my crew; I’m the one; I’m the first and the last, bet.
Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I {am} he; I {am} the first, I also {am} the last.
My hand set the earth's foundation, and my right hand stretched the heavens; when I call, they all roll up together.
Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: {when} I call unto them, they stand up together. {my...: or, the palm of my right hand hath spread out}
Everyone, gather and listen; who’s declared all this? The Lord’s got love for him; he’ll handle his business with Babylon, and his power’s on the Chaldeans.
All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them hath declared these {things}? The LORD hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm {shall be on} the Chaldeans.
It’s me, I’ve spoken; I called him, brought him, and he’s gonna succeed, no cap.
I, {even} I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.
Come close and hear this; I didn’t drop secrets from the start; I’ve been here since it all began, and now the Lord God and his Spirit sent me.
Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there {am} I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me.
Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I’m the Lord your God showing you how to win, guiding you on the path you should take.
Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I {am} the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way {that} thou shouldest go.
If only you had followed my commands! Your peace would’ve been flowing like a river, and your righteousness like waves crashing on the shore, fr.
O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:
Your kids would’ve been like sand, and your offspring like gravel; their name wouldn’t have been cut off or destroyed in front of me.
Thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me.
Bounce from Babylon, run from the Chaldeans, shout it out, tell everyone this: the Lord has redeemed his servant Jacob.
Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it {even} to the end of the earth; say ye, The LORD hath redeemed his servant Jacob.
They didn’t thirst when he led them through the deserts; he made water flow outta the rock for them; he split the rock, and the water gushed out, lit.
And they thirsted not {when} he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out.
There’s no peace for the wicked, says the Lord, periodt.
{There is} no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked.
