Isaiah Chapter 19
Egypt’s got some intense vibes. Check it out, the Lord’s cruisin' in on a swift cloud, and when He arrives, the idols are about to get rocked, and Egypt's heart will totally melt, no cap.
The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it.
I’m about to stir up the Egyptians to clash with each other: dude against dude, neighbor versus neighbor; city against city, kingdom versus kingdom.
And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbour; city against city, {and} kingdom against kingdom. {set: Heb. mingle}
The spirit of Egypt’s gonna be weak sauce; I’m gonna mess up their plans, and they’ll look to their idols, magicians, and sorcerers for help.
And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards. {fail: Heb. be emptied} {destroy: Heb. swallow up}
I’m handing the Egyptians to a ruthless leader; a savage king’s gonna be in charge, says the Lord of hosts.
And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts. {give...: or, shut up}
The waters are about to drop from the sea, and the river’s gonna be all dried up, fr.
And the waters shall fail from the sea, and the river shall be wasted and dried up.
They’ll redirect the rivers; the brooks meant for defense will be empty and parched, and the reeds are gonna fade away.
And they shall turn the rivers far away; {and} the brooks of defence shall be emptied and dried up: the reeds and flags shall wither.
The papyrus reeds by the brooks and everything planted near them will wither and disappear, periodt.
The paper reeds by the brooks, by the mouth of the brooks, and every thing sown by the brooks, shall wither, be driven away, and be no {more}. {and be...: Heb. and shall not be}
The fishers are gonna feel it, and everyone casting lines into the brooks will be bummed, while those spreading nets on the waters will just chill.
The fishers also shall mourn, and all they that cast angle into the brooks shall lament, and they that spread nets upon the waters shall languish.
Those dealing with fine flax and weaving nets are gonna get confused, no cap.
Moreover they that work in fine flax, and they that weave networks, shall be confounded. {networks: or, white works}
They’ll be wrecked in their plans, all those making channels and ponds for fish.
And they shall be broken in the purposes thereof, all that make sluices {and} ponds for fish. {purposes: Heb. foundations} {for fish: Heb. of living things}
For real, the princes of Zoan are straight-up clueless; Pharaoh’s wise guys are acting wild: how do they even tell Pharaoh they’re the offspring of the wise kings?
Surely the princes of Zoan {are} fools, the counsel of the wise counsellors of Pharaoh is become brutish: how say ye unto Pharaoh, I {am} the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings?
Where they at? Where are the smart folks? Let them spill the info on what the Lord of hosts is planning for Egypt.
Where {are} they? where {are} thy wise {men}? and let them tell thee now, and let them know what the LORD of hosts hath purposed upon Egypt.
The princes of Zoan are totally lost, and those from Noph are getting played; they’ve led Egypt off track, even those trying to hold it together.
The princes of Zoan are become fools, the princes of Noph are deceived; they have also seduced Egypt, {even they that are} the stay of the tribes thereof. {they that...: or, governors: Heb. corners}
The Lord’s mixed in a twisted spirit in the middle of all this; they’ve messed up Egypt like a drunk dude tripping over his own chaos.
The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken {man} staggereth in his vomit. {a perverse...: Heb. a spirit of perversities}
Egypt won’t have anything to do, whether it's head or tail, branch or rush, it’s all a no-go.
Neither shall there be {any} work for Egypt, which the head or tail, branch or rush, may do.
On that day, Egypt’s gonna be like women, scared and shook because of the Lord’s hand shaking over them.
In that day shall Egypt be like unto women: and it shall be afraid and fear because of the shaking of the hand of the LORD of hosts, which he shaketh over it.
The land of Judah’s gonna be a whole vibe of fear for Egypt; anyone bringing it up will be lowkey spooked because of the Lord’s plans against it.
And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.
On that day, five cities in Egypt will be talking Canaanite and swearing to the Lord of hosts; one’s gonna go by The City of Destruction.
In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan, and swear to the LORD of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction. {the language: Heb. the lip} {of destruction: or, of Heres, or, of the sun}
On that day, there’ll be an altar to the Lord right in Egypt, and a pillar at the border for the Lord.
In that day shall there be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the LORD.
It’ll be a sign and a witness to the Lord of hosts in Egypt: they’ll cry out to the Lord because of their oppressors, and He’ll send a dope savior to rescue them.
And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them.
The Lord’s gonna be recognized in Egypt, and the Egyptians will know Him that day, and they’ll make sacrifices and offerings; they’ll vow to the Lord and keep it real.
And the LORD shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the LORD in that day, and shall do sacrifice and oblation; yea, they shall vow a vow unto the LORD, and perform {it}.
The Lord’s gonna smack Egypt: He’ll hit and heal it; they’ll turn back to the Lord, and He’ll be there for them and restore them.
And the LORD shall smite Egypt: he shall smite and heal {it}: and they shall return {even} to the LORD, and he shall be intreated of them, and shall heal them.
On that day, there’ll be a highway from Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrians will come through to Egypt, and the Egyptians will head to Assyria, serving together, no cap.
In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians shall serve with the Assyrians.
On that day, Israel’s gonna be the third wheel with Egypt and Assyria, even a blessing in the land.
In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, {even} a blessing in the midst of the land:
The Lord of hosts will bless them, saying, “Blessed be Egypt, my people, and Assyria, the work of my hands, and Israel, my inheritance.”
Whom the LORD of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed {be} Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance.
