Isaiah Chapter 1
So Isaiah, Amoz’s kid, had a vision about Judah and Jerusalem while Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah were in charge. Major vibes.
The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, {and} Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
Yo heavens, pay attention! Earth, you too: God’s saying, “I raised these kids, but they’re acting real sus.”
Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.
The ox knows his fam, and the donkey knows where he crashes, but Israel? They’re totally oblivious, fr.
The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: {but} Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.
Wow, what a wicked crew, packed with bad vibes, corrupt kids: they ditched the Lord and really made Him mad. Total savage move.
Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward. {laden: Heb. of heaviness} {gone...: Heb. alienated, or, separated}
Why are you still getting wrecked? You keep acting up: the whole squad's sick, and the heart is weak, no cap.
Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. {revolt...: Heb. increase revolt}
From your feet to your head, it’s all jacked up; just wounds and bruises everywhere, and no one’s fixing it. So sus.
From the sole of the foot even unto the head {there is} no soundness in it; {but} wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment. {ointment: or, oil}
Your land's a ghost town, cities burning: strangers are munching on it right in front of you, total disaster.
Your country {is} desolate, your cities {are} burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and {it is} desolate, as overthrown by strangers. {overthrown...: Heb. the overthrow of}
Zion’s like a chill spot in a vineyard, just a lonely cottage, like a city under siege.
And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city.
If the Lord hadn’t kept a small crew with us, we’d be just like Sodom and Gomorrah, for real.
Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, {and} we should have been like unto Gomorrah.
Listen up, rulers of Sodom; pay attention to God’s rules, people of Gomorrah. This is lit.
Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.
Yo, what’s with all these sacrifices? God’s like, “I’m full on all that burnt stuff; fr, I don’t vibe with the blood of bulls or goats.”
To what purpose {is} the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats. {he goats: Heb. great he goats}
When you roll up to see me, who told you to step into my crib like that?
When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts? {to appear: Heb. to be seen}
Stop with the empty offerings; incense ain’t it for me; new moons and sabbaths? Nah, that’s sus, I’m not about that solemn gathering vibe.
Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; {it is} iniquity, even the solemn meeting. {iniquity: or, grief}
Your new moons and parties? My soul’s not feeling those; they just stress me out, fr; I’m tired of dealing with it.
Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear {them}.
When you throw your hands up, I’m gonna look away; even when you pray a ton, I won’t hear you; your hands are majorly bloody.
And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood. {make...: Heb. multiply prayer} {blood: Heb. bloods}
Clean yourselves up; ditch the bad vibes in front of me; just stop doing evil.
Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
Learn to do good; seek justice, help the oppressed, take care of orphans, and stand up for widows.
Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. {relieve: or, righten}
Let’s talk about this, says the Lord: even if your sins are fire, they can be fresh as snow; if they’re red like blood, they can be pure like wool.
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
If you’re down and obedient, you’ll feast on the good stuff from the land.
If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
But if you’re gonna act up and rebel, you’re gonna get wrecked; that’s what the Lord said, periodt.
But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken {it}.
How did the faithful city turn into a total mess? It used to be all about justice; now it’s just a murder vibe.
How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.
Your silver's looking sus, and your wine's all watered down, no cap.
Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water:
Your leaders are outright rebellious, rolling with thieves; everyone loves a good gift and chases rewards. They don’t care about the orphans or widows.
Thy princes {are} rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.
So, the Lord, the boss of all, the mighty One of Israel, is like, "I’m done with my enemies; watch me pop off."
Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:
I’m about to put my hand on you, clean you up, and get rid of all that junk.
And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin: {purely: Heb. according to pureness}
I’ll bring back your judges like the OGs, and your advisors will be on point again: then you’ll be known as the city of righteousness, the faithful city.
And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.
Zion's gonna be redeemed with justice, and her peeps with righteousness, fr.
Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness. {her...: or, they that return of her}
The sinners and transgressors are gonna be in it together, and those who ditch the Lord will be totally consumed.
And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners {shall be} together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed. {destruction: Heb. breaking}
You’ll be shook over the oaks you wanted, and you’ll feel embarrassed about the gardens you picked.
For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen.
You’ll be like an oak with no leaves and a garden that’s all dried up.
For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water.
The strong vibe like tow, and the creator's just a spark, they’re both lit together, and no one’s putting that fire out.
And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench {them}. {maker...: or, and his work}
