Hosea Chapter 5
Ayo, check it, priests and crew of Israel; peep this, royal house: judgment’s right around the corner for you, 'cause you’ve been a total snare on Mizpah and a trap on Tabor.
Hear ye this, O priests; and hearken, ye house of Israel; and give ye ear, O house of the king; for judgment {is} toward you, because ye have been a snare on Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.
The rebels are wild, ready to go off, even though I’ve been putting them on blast.
And the revolters are profound to make slaughter, though I {have been} a rebuker of them all. {though: or, and} {a rebuker: Heb. a correction}
I notice you, Ephraim, and Israel can’t front on me: for real, Ephraim, you’re acting mad sus, and Israel’s looking all twisted.
I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me: for now, O Ephraim, thou committest whoredom, {and} Israel is defiled.
They won’t switch it up to turn back to their God: the vibe of unfaithfulness is everywhere, and they’re totally missing the Lord.
They will not frame their doings to turn unto their God: for the spirit of whoredoms {is} in the midst of them, and they have not known the LORD. {They will...: or, Their doings will not suffer them} {frame: Heb. give}
Israel’s pride is right in their grill: so Israel and Ephraim are gonna take a big hit in their chaos; Judah’s in the same boat, no cap.
And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their iniquity; Judah also shall fall with them.
They’ll roll out with their flocks and herds trying to find the Lord, but they’re not gonna vibe with Him; He’s straight ghosting them.
They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the LORD; but they shall not find {him}; he hath withdrawn himself from them.
They’ve been acting shady with the Lord: they’ve made some sus offspring; now a month’s gonna consume their stuff.
They have dealt treacherously against the LORD: for they have begotten strange children: now shall a month devour them with their portions.
Sound the horn in Gibeah and the trumpet in Ramah: holler at Beth-aven, what’s popping, Benjamin?
Blow ye the cornet in Gibeah, {and} the trumpet in Ramah: cry aloud {at} Bethaven, after thee, O Benjamin.
Ephraim’s gonna be straight empty on the day of correction: I’ve made it known among the tribes of Israel what’s about to pop off.
Ephraim shall be desolate in the day of rebuke: among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which shall surely be.
The leaders of Judah are like those who play with borders: so I’m about to unleash my wrath on them like a tsunami.
The princes of Judah were like them that remove the bound: {therefore} I will pour out my wrath upon them like water.
Ephraim’s all shattered and wrecked in judgment, 'cause he picked to roll with the law.
Ephraim {is} oppressed {and} broken in judgment, because he willingly walked after the commandment.
So I’ll be like a moth to Ephraim, and to Judah, I’ll be like rot.
Therefore {will} I {be} unto Ephraim as a moth, and to the house of Judah as rottenness. {rottenness: or, a worm}
When Ephraim saw his sickness and Judah peeped his injury, Ephraim hit up the Assyrian and shot a message to king Jareb: but he couldn’t heal you or mend your wound, fr.
When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah {saw} his wound, then went Ephraim to the Assyrian, and sent to king Jareb: yet could he not heal you, nor cure you of your wound. {king Jareb: or, the king of Jareb: or, the king that should plead}
I’ll be like a lion to Ephraim and a young lion to Judah: I’m about to shred and dip; I’ll take away, and no one’s gonna rescue him.
For I {will be} unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, {even} I, will tear and go away; I will take away, and none shall rescue {him}.
I’ll slide back to my crib until they step up and own their wrongs and seek my face: in their struggles, they’ll be searching for me real early.
I will go {and} return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early. {acknowledge...: Heb. be guilty}
