Hosea Chapter 11
So when Israel was just a little kid, I was all in for him, and I scooped my son up from Egypt.
When Israel {was} a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.
They got called, but then they dipped: they were throwing down sacrifices to Baalim and lighting incense for fake gods.
{As} they called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim, and burned incense to graven images.
I taught Ephraim how to flex, lifting them up; but they straight up didn’t realize I was healing them.
I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them.
I pulled them in with some love vibes, like taking off a heavy burden, and I hooked them up with solid meals.
I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them. {take off: Heb. lift up}
He ain't heading back to Egypt, but the Assyrian's gonna run the show, 'cause they just wouldn’t bounce back.
He shall not return into the land of Egypt, but the Assyrian shall be his king, because they refused to return.
The sword’s gonna chill in their towns, and it’ll munch on their branches, all 'cause of their own schemes.
And the sword shall abide on his cities, and shall consume his branches, and devour {them}, because of their own counsels.
My people are low-key drifting away from me: they hollered out to the Most High, but no one gave him respect.
And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt {him}. {none...: Heb. together they exalted not}
How can I let you slide, Ephraim? How can I just ditch you, Israel? How can I treat you like Admah or Zeboim? My heart's all twisted up, and I’m feeling that.
How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? {how} shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? {how} shall I set thee as Zeboim? mine heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together.
I won’t unleash my full fury, I’m not gonna wreck Ephraim: 'cause I’m God, not just some guy; the Holy One among you: and I’m not rolling into the city.
I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I {am} God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city.
They’re gonna chase after the Lord: he’ll roar like a lion: when he roars, the kids will be shook from the west.
They shall walk after the LORD: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.
They’ll be trembling like a bird outta Egypt, and a dove from Assyria: and I’ll set them up in their spots, says the Lord.
They shall tremble as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria: and I will place them in their houses, saith the LORD.
Ephraim's hitting me with lies, and Israel’s got deceit: but Judah’s still keeping it real with God, and stays true with the saints.
Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints. {saints: or, most holy}
