Hebrews Chapter 8
So, like, here’s the scoop: we got a high priest chillin' at the right hand of the ultimate boss in the sky; vibes are on point.
Now of the things which we have spoken {this is} the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
He’s the minister of the holy place, the real MVP, set up by the Lord, not just some average person.
A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man. {of the sanctuary: or, of holy things}
Every high priest's gotta bring gifts and sacrifices, so this guy needs to have something to bring to the table too, no cap.
For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore {it is} of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.
If he were on Earth, he wouldn’t even qualify as a priest ‘cause there are already priests handling their biz according to the law: savage.
For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law: {there...: or, they are priests}
They’re just giving a sneak peek of the heavenly things, kinda like when Moses got the deets from God about the tabernacle: 'Make it exactly like I showed you, fam.'
Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, {that} thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.
But now he’s got a fire ministry, serving as the middleman for a better arrangement, built on better promises, fr.
But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. {covenant: or, testament}
If the first arrangement was flawless, there wouldn’t be a need for a second one, periodt.
For if that first {covenant} had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
He’s pointing out their mistakes, saying, 'Yo, days are coming when I’ll roll out a new covenant with Israel and Judah.'
For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
Not like the old covenant I made when I brought them outta Egypt; they didn’t keep it, so I was like, 'Nah, I’m cool.'
Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
Here’s the new arrangement I’m laying down after those days: I’ll put my laws in their minds and inscribe them on their hearts; I’ll be their God, and they’ll be my squad.
For this {is} the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: {put: Gr. give} {in: or, upon}
No need to teach one another about knowing the Lord; everyone will just know me, from the least to the greatest, that’s straight facts.
And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
I’ll show mercy for their missteps, and I won’t even recall their sins anymore; that’s fire.
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
Since he’s saying there’s a new covenant, the first one is basically ancient history. What’s fading out is ready to bounce, fr.
In that he saith, A new {covenant}, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old {is} ready to vanish away.
