Exodus Chapter 21
So these are the laws you gotta lay down for them.
Now these {are} the judgments which thou shalt set before them.
If you snag a Hebrew servant, he’s grinding for six years, but in the seventh, he’s free to bounce, no cap.
If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.
Rolling in alone? He’s leaving alone; if he’s got a wifey, she’s coming with.
If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him. {by himself: Heb. with his body}
If his boss hooks him up with a lady and they pop out kids, the kids stay with the boss and he’s leaving solo.
If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out by himself.
If the servant’s all like, “I’m loving my boss, my lady, and my kids; I’m not dipping,”
And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free: {shall...: Heb. saying shall say}
Then the boss takes him to the judges, heads to the door, and pierces his ear with a tool; he’s serving for life, fr.
Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.
If a guy sells his daughter to be a maid, she ain’t getting out like the guys do.
And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do.
If she ain’t vibing with her boss who promised her, he’s gotta let her roll; selling her to randoms is sus.
If she please not her master, who hath betrothed her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemed: to sell her unto a strange nation he shall have no power, seeing he hath dealt deceitfully with her. {please...: Heb. be evil in the eyes of, etc}
If he’s promised her to his son, he better treat her like she’s his own daughter, periodt.
And if he have betrothed her unto his son, he shall deal with her after the manner of daughters.
If he takes another wife, he can’t slack on her food, clothing, or marriage duties, that’s just savage.
If he take him another {wife}; her food, her raiment, and her duty of marriage, shall he not diminish.
If he skips any of those three things for her, she can bounce without any cash, no cap.
And if he do not these three unto her, then shall she go out free without money.
If someone takes out a dude and he dies, that person’s getting the ultimate consequence, fr.
He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death.
If a guy isn’t lurking around but God throws him in a tough situation, I’ll set him up with a safe spot to dip to.
And if a man lie not in wait, but God deliver {him} into his hand; then I will appoint thee a place whither he shall flee.
But if a dude sneaks up on his neighbor to take him out, pull him from my altar and let him meet his end.
But if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbour, to slay him with guile; thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.
Anyone who lays a hand on their parents is definitely facing the death penalty, periodt.
And he that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death.
If someone snatches a person and sells them, or they’re found in their possession, that’s a death sentence, no cap.
And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.
If someone throws shade at their parents, they’re also getting put to death, no doubt.
And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death. {curseth: or, revileth}
If two guys are throwing hands and one hits the other with a rock or a fist, and the victim doesn’t die but is laid up:
And if men strive together, and one smite another with a stone, or with {his} fist, and he die not, but keepeth {his} bed: {another: or, his neighbour}
If he gets up and walks with a stick later, the hitter is off the hook, but he’s gotta cover the dude’s chill time and make sure he’s alright.
If he rise again, and walk abroad upon his staff, then shall he that smote {him} be quit: only he shall pay {for} the loss of his time, and shall cause {him} to be thoroughly healed. {the loss...: Heb. his ceasing}
If a dude hits his servant or maid with a stick and they die, he’s definitely facing consequences, fr.
And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished. {punished: Heb. avenged}
But fr, if he’s chilling for a day or two, no cap, he ain't facing any punishment 'cause that’s his cash.
Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he {is} his money.
If dudes get into it and hurt a pregnant lady, making her baby dip, but no real drama follows, he’s getting punished based on what her man decides, and he’s gotta pay what the judges rule.
If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart {from her}, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges {determine}.
But if some serious trouble goes down, then it’s life for life, periodt.
And if {any} mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,
Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, that’s the vibe.
Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
Fire for fire, wound for wound, stripe for stripe, you feel me?
Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.
If a dude messes up his servant's eye and it’s gone, he’s gotta let him dip for that eye, no cap.
And if a man smite the eye of his servant, or the eye of his maid, that it perish; he shall let him go free for his eye's sake.
And if he knocks out his servant's tooth, he’s gotta let him go for that tooth, straight up.
And if he smite out his manservant's tooth, or his maidservant's tooth; he shall let him go free for his tooth's sake.
If an ox gores a dude or a lady and they die, that ox is getting stoned, and no one’s eating it; the owner is off the hook.
If an ox gore a man or a woman, that they die: then the ox shall be surely stoned, and his flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox {shall be} quit.
But if that ox was known to push before, and the owner didn’t keep it in check, and it takes someone out, the ox gets stoned, and the owner’s gonna get the boot too.
But if the ox were wont to push with his horn in time past, and it hath been testified to his owner, and he hath not kept him in, but that he hath killed a man or a woman; the ox shall be stoned, and his owner also shall be put to death.
If there’s a cash price on him, he’s gotta pay whatever’s set for his life, no doubt.
If there be laid on him a sum of money, then he shall give for the ransom of his life whatsoever is laid upon him.
If he gores a kid or a daughter, that’s the vibe, and that’s how it’s gonna roll.
Whether he have gored a son, or have gored a daughter, according to this judgment shall it be done unto him.
If the ox targets a servant, gotta drop thirty shekels to the boss, and the ox gets stoned, no cap.
If the ox shall push a manservant or a maidservant; he shall give unto their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned.
If a dude digs a pit and leaves it open, and an ox or donkey falls in, that’s sus.
And if a man shall open a pit, or if a man shall dig a pit, and not cover it, and an ox or an ass fall therein;
The pit owner has to fix it up and pay up, and the dead animal is his, periodt.
The owner of the pit shall make {it} good, {and} give money unto the owner of them; and the dead {beast} shall be his.
If one dude’s ox messes up another’s and it dies, they sell the live one, split the cash, and share the dead one too, fr.
And if one man's ox hurt another's, that he die; then they shall sell the live ox, and divide the money of it; and the dead {ox} also they shall divide.
If it’s known that the ox has a history of being savage, and the owner didn’t keep it in check, he’s gotta pay ox for ox, and the dead one’s on him.
Or if it be known that the ox hath used to push in time past, and his owner hath not kept him in; he shall surely pay ox for ox; and the dead shall be his own.
