Exodus Chapter 16
So they bounced from Elim, and the whole squad of Israelites cruised into the wilderness of Sin, between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after they dipped from Egypt.
And they took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came unto the wilderness of Sin, which {is} between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt.
The entire crew of Israelites was seriously grumbling against Moses and Aaron out in the wild.
And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness:
The Israelites were like, "Fr, we’d rather have just kicked the bucket in Egypt, chilling by the meat pots and snacking on bread; now you brought us out here to starve us."
And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, {and} when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.
God literally hit up Moses, saying, "Ayo, I’m about to drop bread from heaven for you; the people gotta get out and gather some every day to see if they’ll follow my rules or nah."
Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no. {a certain...: Heb. the portion of a day in his day}
And on the sixth day, they gotta prep what they bring in; it’ll be double what they usually scoop up.
And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare {that} which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.
Moses and Aaron told all the Israelites, "When evening hits, you’ll know the Lord brought you out of Egypt."
And Moses and Aaron said unto all the children of Israel, At even, then ye shall know that the LORD hath brought you out from the land of Egypt:
And in the morning, you’ll witness the Lord’s glory; He hears your complaints against Him, so what’s up with y'all coming for us?
And in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of the LORD; for that he heareth your murmurings against the LORD: and what {are} we, that ye murmur against us?
Moses said, "Here’s the vibe: when the Lord gives you meat in the evening and bread in the morning, He hears your complaints against Him; it ain’t us, it’s totally against the Lord."
And Moses said, {This shall be}, when the LORD shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the LORD heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: and what {are} we? your murmurings {are} not against us, but against the LORD.
Moses told Aaron, "Get the whole squad of Israelites to come close to the Lord; He’s heard your complaints."
And Moses spake unto Aaron, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before the LORD: for he hath heard your murmurings.
And as Aaron spoke to the whole crew of Israelites, they peeped towards the wilderness, and bam, the glory of the Lord popped up in the cloud.
And it came to pass, as Aaron spake unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud.
And the Lord was like, "Yo Moses, peep this."
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
I caught wind of the Israelites complaining, so tell them, "At night you’ll chow down on meat, and in the morning you’ll feast on bread; you'll know I’m the Lord your God, no cap."
I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I {am} the LORD your God.
Then, at night, the quails showed up and blanketed the camp; in the morning, the dew was all around the squad.
And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host.
When the dew was gone, there was this small round thing on the ground, like frost but lowkey.
And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness {there lay} a small round thing, {as} small as the hoar frost on the ground.
The Israelites saw it and were like, "What’s this manna?" They had no idea what it was. Moses was like, "This is the bread the Lord gave you to munch on."
And when the children of Israel saw {it}, they said one to another, It {is} manna: for they wist not what it {was}. And Moses said unto them, This {is} the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat. {It is...: or, What is this? or, It is a portion}
This is what the Lord said, "Gather what you need, an omer for each person; take what you need for your crew in the tents."
This {is} the thing which the LORD hath commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man, {according to} the number of your persons; take ye every man for {them} which {are} in his tents. {for every...: Heb. by the poll, or, head} {persons: Heb. souls}
The Israelites followed that, some got more, some got less, but they all made it work.
And the children of Israel did so, and gathered, some more, some less.
When they measured it out with an omer, the ones who gathered a lot had no leftovers, and the ones who gathered a little had enough; everyone got what they needed, fr.
And when they did mete {it} with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating.
Moses said, "Don’t stash any of it till morning, aight?"
And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning.
But they didn’t listen; some left it till morning, and it got all gross with worms, and Moses was mad at them, savage.
Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth with them.
They scooped it up every morning, everyone got their munchies: but when the sun shined, it melted away, no cap.
And they gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted.
On the sixth day, they gathered double the bread, two omers for each person: all the squad leaders came and told Moses, fr.
And it came to pass, {that} on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one {man}: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.
Moses said, "Yo, the Lord said tomorrow is the chill day for the holy sabbath: bake what you gotta bake today, and cook what you gotta cook; save the leftovers for the morning."
And he said unto them, This {is that} which the LORD hath said, To morrow {is} the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake {that} which ye will bake {to day}, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.
They saved it till morning like Moses said: it didn’t smell funky, and no worms were in it, periodt.
And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stink, neither was there any worm therein.
Moses was like, "Eat that today; it’s a sabbath for the Lord: you won’t find it out in the fields today."
And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day {is} a sabbath unto the LORD: to day ye shall not find it in the field.
You can gather it for six days; but on the seventh day, the sabbath, there won’t be any, bet.
Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, {which is} the sabbath, in it there shall be none.
Some folks went out on the seventh day to gather, but they found nothing, sus.
And it came to pass, {that} there went out {some} of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none.
The Lord asked Moses, "How long are you gonna act like you don’t see my commandments and laws?"
And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?
Check it, the Lord gave you the sabbath, so on the sixth day, He hooked you up with two days' bread; everyone chill in your spot, don’t go out on the seventh day.
See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.
So the crew chilled on the seventh day, it was vibes.
So the people rested on the seventh day.
The fam of Israel named it Manna, and it was like coriander seeds, all white and sweet like honey wafers. No cap, that’s tasty.
And the house of Israel called the name thereof Manna: and it {was} like coriander seed, white; and the taste of it {was} like wafers {made} with honey.
Moses was like, "Yo, the Lord said to stash some of this for the future fam, so they can see the bread I hooked you up with in the desert when I dipped from Egypt."
And Moses said, This {is} the thing which the LORD commandeth, Fill an omer of it to be kept for your generations; that they may see the bread wherewith I have fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you forth from the land of Egypt.
Moses told Aaron, "Grab a pot, fill it with an omer of manna, and stash it before the Lord for the future generations."
And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a pot, and put an omer full of manna therein, and lay it up before the LORD, to be kept for your generations.
Aaron did just what Moses said, keeping it lit before the Testimony like the Lord commanded.
As the LORD commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept.
The kids of Israel munched on manna for forty years until they hit a chill land; they kept eating that manna until they hit the Canaan border.
And the children of Israel did eat manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited; they did eat manna, until they came unto the borders of the land of Canaan.
Just so you know, an omer is like a tenth of an ephah.
Now an omer {is} the tenth {part} of an ephah.
