Exodus Chapter 1
Aight, these are the names of the crew of Israel who cruised into Egypt; every dude and his squad came with Jacob.
Now these {are} the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt; every man and his household came with Jacob.
Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah, no cap.
Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah,
Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin, straight facts.
Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin,
Dan, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher, all in the mix.
Dan, and Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.
Jacob's entire crew was seventy souls strong; Joseph was already in Egypt, vibin’ hard.
And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt {already}. {loins: Heb. thigh}
So then Joseph dipped, and all his bros followed, like that whole generation was out.
And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation.
The kids of Israel were thriving, popping off, and getting hella strong; the land was lit with their presence.
And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.
But then a new pharaoh in Egypt showed up, and he didn't even know about Joseph.
Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.
He was like, "Yo, the Israelites are way stronger and lit than us!"
And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel {are} more and mightier than we:
So he’s like, “Bet, we gotta play it smart; if they keep growing, they might unite with our enemies in a war and bounce.”
Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and {so} get them up out of the land.
That’s when they put some taskmasters over them to make life tough. They built treasure cities for Pharaoh, Pithom and Raamses, fr.
Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.
But the more they tried to bring them down, the more the Israelites multiplied and thrived; it was savage.
But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel. {But...: Heb. And as they afflicted them, so they multiplied, etc}
The Egyptians made the Israelites grind hard, no cap.
And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour:
They made their lives bitter with harsh work, like brick-making and everything in the fields was a struggle.
And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, {was} with rigour.
Then the king of Egypt hit up the Hebrew midwives, one named Shiphrah and the other named Puah.
And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one {was} Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah:
He told them, “When you’re midwifing the Hebrew ladies, if it’s a boy, you gotta off him; but if it’s a girl, she gets to chill.”
And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see {them} upon the stools; if it {be} a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it {be} a daughter, then she shall live.
But the midwives feared God and didn’t follow the king’s orders; they kept the boys alive.
But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.
The king called them in and was like, “Why y’all doing this? Why are the boys still kicking?”
And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?
The midwives replied to Pharaoh, “The Hebrew ladies are wild; they birth before we even roll up!”
And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women {are} not as the Egyptian women; for they {are} lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them.
So God blessed the midwives, and the people just kept multiplying and getting strong, periodt.
Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.
And since the midwives feared God, He hooked them up with families.
And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.
Pharaoh ordered all his people, “Every boy born, throw him in the river; but keep the girls.”
And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.
