Deuteronomy Chapter 3
So we rolled out and made our way to Bashan, where Og, the king, showed up with his squad, ready to throw down at Edrei.
Then we turned, and went up the way to Bashan: and Og the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.
The Lord hit me up, saying, "Don’t trip on him; I got your back. I’ll hand him, his crew, and his land over to you, and you’ll handle him like you did Sihon, king of the Amorites at Heshbon."
And the LORD said unto me, Fear him not: for I will deliver him, and all his people, and his land, into thy hand; and thou shalt do unto him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.
So our God came through and handed us Og, the king of Bashan, and his entire squad; we took him out, leaving no one left standing.
So the LORD our God delivered into our hands Og also, the king of Bashan, and all his people: and we smote him until none was left to him remaining.
We snagged all his cities then; not a single one slipped away from us—sixty cities in total from the Argob region, all part of Og’s kingdom in Bashan.
And we took all his cities at that time, there was not a city which we took not from them, threescore cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
All those cities were stacked with high walls, gates, and bars; plus, there were plenty of chill towns without walls.
All these cities {were} fenced with high walls, gates, and bars; beside unwalled towns a great many.
We totally wiped them out, just like we did to Sihon, king of Heshbon, taking out all the dudes, ladies, and kids from every city.
And we utterly destroyed them, as we did unto Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children, of every city.
But we kept all the livestock and the loot from those cities for ourselves, no cap.
But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities, we took for a prey to ourselves.
We took the land from the two kings of the Amorites on this side of the Jordan, from the Arnon river all the way to Mount Hermon.
And we took at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites the land that {was} on this side Jordan, from the river of Arnon unto mount Hermon;
(The Sidonians call Hermon Sirion, and the Amorites call it Shenir.)
({Which} Hermon the Sidonians call Sirion; and the Amorites call it Shenir;)
All the cities in the plain, Gilead, and Bashan, up to Salchah and Edrei, were part of Og's territory in Bashan.
All the cities of the plain, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, unto Salchah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
Only Og, the king of Bashan, was left from the giant squad; his bed was made of iron, no cap. It’s in Rabbath of the Ammon fam, and it measures nine cubits long and four cubits wide, totally human-sized.
For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of giants; behold, his bedstead {was} a bedstead of iron; {is} it not in Rabbath of the children of Ammon? nine cubits {was} the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man.
This land we had back then, from Aroer by the Arnon river and half of mount Gilead, I gave to the Reubenites and Gadites.
And this land, {which} we possessed at that time, from Aroer, which {is} by the river Arnon, and half mount Gilead, and the cities thereof, gave I unto the Reubenites and to the Gadites.
The remaining Gilead and all of Bashan, the kingdom of Og, went to the half tribe of Manasseh; all the Argob area, which was labeled as the land of giants, fr.
And the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, {being} the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, with all Bashan, which was called the land of giants.
Jair, Manasseh’s son, took all the Argob territory up to Geshuri and Maachathi; he named it Bashan–havoth–jair, and it’s still called that today, periodt.
Jair the son of Manasseh took all the country of Argob unto the coasts of Geshuri and Maachathi; and called them after his own name, Bashanhavothjair, unto this day.
I handed Gilead over to Machir.
And I gave Gilead unto Machir.
To the Reubenites and Gadites, I gave from Gilead to the Arnon river, half the valley, and the border to the Jabbok river, which is the line of the Ammon fam.
And unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites I gave from Gilead even unto the river Arnon half the valley, and the border even unto the river Jabbok, {which is} the border of the children of Ammon;
The plain, the Jordan, and its banks, from Chinnereth to the salt sea, under Ashdoth–pisgah eastward, all lit.
The plain also, and Jordan, and the coast {thereof}, from Chinnereth even unto the sea of the plain, {even} the salt sea, under Ashdothpisgah eastward. {Ashdothpisgah; or, the springs of Pisgah, or, the hill}
I told you back then, "The Lord your God has given you this land to vibe in: you gotta roll out with your bros, the Israelites, all set for battle."
And I commanded you at that time, saying, The LORD your God hath given you this land to possess it: ye shall pass over armed before your brethren the children of Israel, all {that are} meet for the war. {meet...: Heb. sons of power}
But your wives, kids, and cattle (I know you got a lot of that) can chill in the cities I gave you.
But your wives, and your little ones, and your cattle, ({for} I know that ye have much cattle,) shall abide in your cities which I have given you;
Until the Lord gives your bros some rest, just like you, and until they also get the land the Lord your God gave them beyond Jordan; then you can bounce back to your own spot I gave you.
Until the LORD have given rest unto your brethren, as well as unto you, and {until} they also possess the land which the LORD your God hath given them beyond Jordan: and {then} shall ye return every man unto his possession, which I have given you.
I told Joshua back then, "You’ve seen all the crazy stuff God did to those two kings; He’s gonna do the same to all the kingdoms you come up against.
And I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, Thine eyes have seen all that the LORD your God hath done unto these two kings: so shall the LORD do unto all the kingdoms whither thou passest.
Don’t even sweat them; the Lord your God’s got your back and He’s ready to throw down for you.
Ye shall not fear them: for the LORD your God he shall fight for you.
So I hit up the Lord back then, saying,
And I besought the LORD at that time, saying,
Yo, Lord God, you’ve started flexing your greatness and your power; like, what other God is out there in heaven or on earth that can match what you do?
O Lord GOD, thou hast begun to shew thy servant thy greatness, and thy mighty hand: for what God {is there} in heaven or in earth, that can do according to thy works, and according to thy might?
I’m just tryna scope out the solid land past Jordan, that dope mountain, and Lebanon.
I pray thee, let me go over, and see the good land that {is} beyond Jordan, that goodly mountain, and Lebanon.
But the Lord was mad at me because of you all and didn’t wanna hear me; He said, "Chill, just drop it; don’t bring this up to me again."
But the LORD was wroth with me for your sakes, and would not hear me: and the LORD said unto me, Let it suffice thee; speak no more unto me of this matter.
Get up to the top of Pisgah, look around to the west, north, south, and east, and peep it with your own eyes; you’re not crossing this Jordan.
Get thee up into the top of Pisgah, and lift up thine eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and behold {it} with thine eyes: for thou shalt not go over this Jordan. {Pisgah: or, the hill}
But tell Joshua to pop off, hype him up, and give him some strength; he’s gonna lead this crew across and help them claim the land you’ll see.
But charge Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him: for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shalt see.
So we just chilled in the valley facing Beth–peor.
So we abode in the valley over against Bethpeor.
