Acts Chapter 6
Way back when, the crew of disciples was blowing up, and the Grecians were kinda salty about the Hebrews, since their widows were being ignored in the daily grind.
And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
So the twelve hit up the squad and were like, "No cap, we can’t ditch preaching the Word to serve tables."
Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples {unto them}, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.
So fam, scoop up seven solid guys from among you, filled with the Holy Spirit and wisdom, to manage this situation.
Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
We’re gonna stay focused on prayer and the Word, fr.
But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
The whole crew was down with this plan, and they chose Stephen, a dude packed with faith and the Holy Spirit, plus Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch.
And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:
They brought these guys to the apostles; after praying, they laid hands on them, like, "You got this fam."
Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid {their} hands on them.
The Word of God was thriving, and the number of disciples in Jerusalem was skyrocketing; even a bunch of priests were catching the vibe.
And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.
Stephen, filled with faith and power, was out here performing some crazy miracles and wonders among the peeps.
And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.
Then some folks from the synagogue, the Libertines, Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and people from Cilicia and Asia, started beefing with Stephen.
Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called {the synagogue} of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.
They couldn’t keep up with the wisdom and spirit he was dropping, no cap.
And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.
So they recruited some guys to say, "We heard him throwing around blasphemous words against Moses and God."
Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and {against} God.
They stirred up the crowd, the elders, and the scribes, rolling on him, snatching him up, and dragging him to the council.
And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon {him}, and caught him, and brought {him} to the council,
They set up fake witnesses, claiming, "This dude keeps popping off with blasphemous words against this holy spot and the law."
And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:
They said they heard him say that this Jesus from Nazareth is gonna destroy this place and change up the customs Moses gave us.
For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us. {customs: or, rites}
Everyone in the council was staring hard at him and noticed his face was glowing like it was the face of an angel.
And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.
