Acts Chapter 28
So once they bounced, they realized the island was named Melita.
And when they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita.
The locals were super chill, straight up starting a fire and taking care of us since it was wet and cold, no cap.
And the barbarous people shewed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.
Paul grabbed some sticks for the fire, and outta nowhere, a snake popped up and bit his hand.
And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid {them} on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.
The locals peeped the snake chillin' on his hand and said, "No cap, this guy's a killer. He got away from the ocean, but karma's still got his number."
And when the barbarians saw the {venomous} beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.
He just shook the snake off into the fire and felt zero harm, fr.
And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.
They were just waiting for him to swell up or drop dead, but after staring for a hot minute and seeing he was good, they flipped the script and called him a god.
Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.
There was a chief on the island named Publius, and he was super welcoming, hosting us for three days.
In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously.
Publius's dad was feeling sick with a fever and some gnarly stuff, so Paul rolled in, prayed, laid hands on him, and healed him, lit.
And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.
After that, others on the island with issues came through and got healed too.
So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:
They showed us mad respect, and when we dipped, they loaded us up with all the essentials.
Who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded {us} with such things as were necessary.
So after three months, we peaced out on a ship from Alexandria that was chilling on the island, with the vibes of Castor and Pollux.
And after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered in the isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.
We hit Syracuse and vibed there for three days.
And landing at Syracuse, we tarried {there} three days.
Then we got our bearings and cruised to Rhegium; after a day, the south wind was lit, and we rolled up to Puteoli the next day.
And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium: and after one day the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli:
There, we found some homies who wanted us to kick it for seven days, so we made our way to Rome.
Where we found brethren, and were desired to tarry with them seven days: and so we went toward Rome.
When the squad heard about us, they came to link up at Appii forum and the three taverns. Paul saw them, thanked God, and felt the rizz.
And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.
When we hit Rome, the centurion dropped off the prisoners with the captain of the guard, but Paul got to chill solo with a soldier watching him.
And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him.
After three days, Paul called the top Jews together; when they showed up, he said, "Yo, fam, I haven't done anything against our people or customs, but I got taken prisoner from Jerusalem to the Romans."
And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men {and} brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.
They checked me out and wanted to let me go, ‘cause there was no reason for a death sentence on me, no cap.
Who, when they had examined me, would have let {me} go, because there was no cause of death in me.
But when the Jews started speaking against it, I had to appeal to Caesar; not that I had anything sus to say about my nation.
But when the Jews spake against {it}, I was constrained to appeal unto Caesar; not that I had ought to accuse my nation of.
That's why I called y'all, to see you and chat, 'cause I’m locked up for the hope of Israel with this chain, fr.
For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see {you}, and to speak with {you}: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.
They were like, "We ain’t got no letters from Judea about you, and none of the homies said anything sus."
And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judaea concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee.
But we wanna know your thoughts, 'cause we heard this squad gets mad hate everywhere.
But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against.
They set a date, and a bunch of peeps rolled up to his spot; he was vibing and sharing the kingdom of God, convincing them about Jesus, using Moses' law and the prophets, from morning to night.
And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into {his} lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and {out of} the prophets, from morning till evening.
Some were like, "This slaps," while others were like, "Nah, we’re good."
And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.
When they couldn’t agree, they dipped after Paul dropped some truth, saying, "The Holy Spirit spoke through Isaiah to our ancestors."
And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,
Saying, "Go to these people and tell them, 'You’ll hear but not get it; you’ll see but not really perceive.'"
Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:
'Cause their hearts are all hardened, ears are dull, and they’ve closed their eyes; otherwise, they’d see, hear, and get it, and I could heal them, fr.
For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with {their} eyes, and hear with {their} ears, and understand with {their} heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
So just so you know, the salvation from God is going to the Gentiles, and they’re gonna be all ears.
Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and {that} they will hear it.
After he said that, the Jews dipped, and they were having a deep convo among themselves.
And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.
Paul kicked it for two whole years in his own rented crib, welcoming everyone who came through.
And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,
Spitting truth about the kingdom of God and dropping knowledge on Jesus, all with mad confidence, no one could stop him.
Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.
