Psalms Chapter 39
So I was like, I’m gonna keep my vibes in check so I don’t spill any tea with my mouth: I’ll hold it down while the sus ones are around.
[To the chief Musician, {even} to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David.] I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me. {my mouth...: Heb. a bridle, or, muzzle for my mouth}
Totally kept it mute, just vibing quietly, even when I had solid things to say; my feels were lowkey heated.
I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, {even} from good; and my sorrow was stirred. {stirred: Heb. troubled}
My heart was blazing inside me, while I was deep in thought: then I started to speak up.
My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: {then} spake I with my tongue,
Yo, God, help me peep my endgame and how much time I got; I wanna understand how fragile I really am.
LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it {is; that} I may know how frail I {am}. {how...: or, what time I have here}
Check it, you made my days super brief; my age is basically nothing to you: fr, every dude at his peak is just vibes. Selah.
Behold, thou hast made my days {as} an handbreadth; and mine age {is} as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state {is} altogether vanity. Selah. {at...: Heb. settled}
For real, every dude is just flexing for no reason: they’re stressed for nothing; stacking cash, but clueless on who’s gonna take it.
Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up {riches}, and knoweth not who shall gather them. {a vain...: Heb. an image}
So now, God, what am I waiting for? My hope is straight up with you.
And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope {is} in thee.
Rescue me from all my mess-ups: don’t let me be the punchline for the fools.
Deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish.
I stayed silent, didn’t make a peep; 'cause you were the one doing it all.
I was dumb, I opened not my mouth; because thou didst {it}.
Take your hand off me: I’m drained from the hits I’m taking.
Remove thy stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of thine hand. {blow: Heb. conflict}
When you correct a dude for his wrongs, you make his good looks fade away like a moth: for real, every dude is just vain. Selah.
When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man {is} vanity. Selah. {his...: Heb. that which is to be desired in him to melt away}
Hear my prayer, O God, and listen to my cry; don’t stay silent when I’m tearing up: 'cause I’m just a stranger with you, and a traveler, like all my ancestors were.
Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I {am} a stranger with thee, {and} a sojourner, as all my fathers {were}.
O spare me, so I can regain my strength, before I bounce and am no more.
O spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go hence, and be no more.
