Nehemiah Chapter 1
The story of Nehemiah, son of Hachaliah. So, in the month of Chisleu, in the twentieth year, I was just chillin' in the palace of Shushan.
The words of Nehemiah the son of Hachaliah. And it came to pass in the month Chisleu, in the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the palace,
One of my boys, Hanani, rolled up with some peeps from Judah; I asked them what’s poppin’ with the Jews who got outta captivity and what’s the deal with Jerusalem.
That Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and {certain} men of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, which were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.
They filled me in that the leftover crew in the province was struggling hard, like, the wall of Jerusalem was completely trashed, and the gates were burnt to a crisp.
And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province {are} in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also {is} broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire.
When I heard all this, I just sat there and cried, mourned for days, fasted, and prayed to the God of heaven, no cap.
And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned {certain} days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven,
I was like, “Yo, Lord God of heaven, the big and kinda scary God, keeping it real for those who vibe with you and follow your commandments.”
And said, I beseech thee, O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments:
Please pay attention and open your eyes, so you can catch the prayer of your servant, which I’m lifting up day and night for the kids of Israel, confessing our sins, ‘cause we’ve seriously messed up, me and my fam too.
Let thine ear now be attentive, and thine eyes open, that thou mayest hear the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee now, day and night, for the children of Israel thy servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against thee: both I and my father's house have sinned.
We’ve been super sus against you, not vibing with your commandments or laws or judgments you gave to Moses.
We have dealt very corruptly against thee, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the judgments, which thou commandedst thy servant Moses.
Don’t forget, I’m begging you, the word you gave Moses: if you slip up, I’ll scatter you among the nations, no doubt.
Remember, I beseech thee, the word that thou commandedst thy servant Moses, saying, {If} ye transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations:
But if you come back to me and stick to my commandments, even if you’ve been scattered to the farthest corners of heaven, I’ll scoop you up from there and bring you back to the spot I chose for my name.
But {if} ye turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the uttermost part of the heaven, {yet} will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there.
These are your servants and your people, whom you’ve saved with your mad power and strong hand, fr.
Now these {are} thy servants and thy people, whom thou hast redeemed by thy great power, and by thy strong hand.
O Lord, I’m asking you, please hear the prayer of your servant and the prayers of those who wanna respect your name; bless your servant today and show him mercy in the sight of this dude. I was the king’s cupbearer.
O Lord, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants, who desire to fear thy name: and prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I was the king's cupbearer.
