Nahum Chapter 3
Ayo, this bloody city is mad sus! Full of lies and theft; ain't nobody bouncing back.
Woe to the bloody city! it {is} all full of lies {and} robbery; the prey departeth not; {bloody...: Heb. city of bloods}
You peep that whip crack, wheels rattling, and horses bouncing? It’s a whole vibe.
The noise of a whip, and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the pransing horses, and of the jumping chariots.
The horseman’s flexing with a dope sword and shiny spear: so many downed, it’s a total wreck; they trip over the bodies, no cap.
The horseman lifteth up both the bright sword and the glittering spear: and {there is} a multitude of slain, and a great number of carcases; and {there is} none end of {their} corpses; they stumble upon their corpses: {the bright...: Heb. the flame of the sword, and the lightning of the spear}
All this chaos is 'cause of the wild energy from that fine harlot, the queen of sorcery, betraying nations and families.
Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the wellfavoured harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts.
Peep this, I’m pulling up on you, says the Lord; I’ll unveil your secrets and put your shame on blast for the nations, periodt.
Behold, I {am} against thee, saith the LORD of hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame.
I’m about to send some nasty vibes your way, make you look like a total joke.
And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazingstock.
Everyone who glances at you is gonna bounce and say, "Nineveh is finished; who’s gonna shed tears for her?"
And it shall come to pass, {that} all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?
You really think you’re better than No, the popping city by the rivers, wrapped in water, with the sea as her border?
Art thou better than populous No, that was situate among the rivers, {that had} the waters round about it, whose rampart {was} the sea, {and} her wall {was} from the sea? {populous...: or, nourishing, etc: Heb. No Amon}
Ethiopia and Egypt were your squad, and they were lit; Put and Lubim were holding it down.
Ethiopia and Egypt {were} her strength, and {it was} infinite; Put and Lubim were thy helpers. {thy helpers: Heb. in thy help}
But she got snatched, went into captivity; her kids were wrecked in the streets, and they rolled dice for her top players, all locked up.
Yet {was} she carried away, she went into captivity: her young children also were dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they cast lots for her honourable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.
You’re gonna be lit, but not the good kind; you'll be hiding and trying to find strength from your enemies.
Thou also shalt be drunken: thou shalt be hid, thou also shalt seek strength because of the enemy.
Your strongholds will be like fig trees with weak figs: shake them, and they’ll fall right into the eater’s mouth.
All thy strong holds {shall be like} fig trees with the firstripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater.
Look, your squad is all ladies; the gates of your city are wide open for enemies: fire's gonna burn down your spots.
Behold, thy people in the midst of thee {are} women: the gates of thy land shall be set wide open unto thine enemies: the fire shall devour thy bars.
Get that water ready for the siege, beef up your defenses: get into the mud, make those bricks tough.
Draw thee waters for the siege, fortify thy strong holds: go into clay, and tread the morter, make strong the brickkiln.
Fire's gonna consume you; the sword will shred you like a cankerworm: multiply like the cankerworm, like locusts.
There shall the fire devour thee; the sword shall cut thee off, it shall eat thee up like the cankerworm: make thyself many as the cankerworm, make thyself many as the locusts.
You’ve got way more merchants than stars in the sky: the cankerworm is gonna spoil and bounce.
Thou hast multiplied thy merchants above the stars of heaven: the cankerworm spoileth, and flieth away. {spoileth: or, spreadeth himself}
Your crowns are like locusts, and your leaders are giant grasshoppers, chilling in the hedges, but when the sun hits, they dip and are nowhere to be found.
Thy crowned {are} as the locusts, and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, {but} when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they {are}.
Your shepherds are snoozing, O king of Assyria; your nobles are in the dirt: your people are scattered, and no one’s picking them up.
Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell {in the dust}: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth {them}. {nobles: or, valiant ones}
There’s no healing your wounds; they’re serious: everyone who hears about you is gonna cheer for your downfall, 'cause who hasn’t felt your wickedness?
{There is} no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually? {healing: Heb. wrinkling}
