Nahum Chapter 1
The vibes of Nineveh are strong. Nahum the Elkoshite comes through with this vision, and it's fire.
The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.
God's rocking that jealousy vibe, and He’s all in for revenge; fr, His wrath is no joke, and He’s got beef with His haters.
God {is} jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and {is} furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth {wrath} for his enemies. {God...: or, The LORD is a jealous God, and a revenger, etc} {is furious: Heb. that hath fury}
The Lord can chill with His anger, but His might is off the charts; He’s not letting the wrongdoers skate. He’s got mad skills in the tornado and storm, and those clouds? Just the dust from His kicks.
The LORD {is} slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit {the wicked}: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds {are} the dust of his feet.
He tells the sea to vibe down, and now it’s dry; all the rivers are taking a break. Bashan and Carmel are looking sus, and the flowers in Lebanon are not feeling it.
He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth.
Mountains are quaking, hills are melting, and the earth’s ablaze just from His presence; straight up, everything's lit.
The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.
Who can stand His anger? Like, seriously, who can handle that heat? His rage’s like flames, and He’s throwing boulders down like it’s a game.
Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him. {abide: Heb. stand up}
The Lord is solid, a reliable stronghold when things get rough; He knows who’s got faith in Him.
The LORD {is} good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him. {strong hold: or, strength}
But with a huge flood, He’s wiping everything out, and darkness is closing in on His enemies.
But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies.
What are you scheming against the Lord? He’s about to shut that down; trouble ain’t coming back to haunt you twice.
What do ye imagine against the LORD? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.
They’re all tangled like thorns, acting wild like they’re drunk; they’re gonna be reduced to ash like dry grass.
For while {they be} folden together {as} thorns, and while they are drunken {as} drunkards, they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry.
Someone’s rolling up from you, plotting evil against the Lord, definitely a sus advisor.
There is {one} come out of thee, that imagineth evil against the LORD, a wicked counsellor. {a wicked...: Heb. a counsellor of Belial}
The Lord’s saying, even if they’re quiet and there’s a lot of them, they’re getting taken down when He shows up. I’ve schooled you before, but I won’t do it again.
Thus saith the LORD; Though {they be} quiet, and likewise many, yet thus shall they be cut down, when he shall pass through. Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more. {Though...: or, If they would have been at peace, so should they have been many, and so should they have been shorn, and he should have passed away} {cut down: Heb. shorn}
Now I’m snapping that yoke off you, and I’m breaking those chains wide open.
For now will I break his yoke from off thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder.
The Lord has a word for you: your name’s getting erased; I’m removing your idols from the house of your gods. Your grave’s coming, 'cause you’re straight-up nasty.
And the LORD hath given a commandment concerning thee, {that} no more of thy name be sown: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the graven image and the molten image: I will make thy grave; for thou art vile.
Peep those mountains, the feet of someone bringing dope news, spreading peace! O Judah, celebrate, keep your word; the wicked won’t roll through you again; they’re totally done.
Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off. {keep...: Heb. feast} {the wicked: Heb. Belial}
