Malachi Chapter 2
Ayo, priests, this message is for you, no cap.
And now, O ye priests, this commandment {is} for you.
If you're not tuning in and giving my name the hype it needs, the Lord's gonna drop a curse on you, and your blessings? They’re already cursed, fr.
If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay {it} to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay {it} to heart.
Listen up, I’m about to mess with your family line and throw major shade on your faces, even the scraps from your parties; someone’s gonna take you out with it.
Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, {even} the dung of your solemn feasts; and {one} shall take you away with it. {corrupt: or, reprove} {spread: Heb. scatter} {one...: or, it shall take you away to it}
You’ll realize I sent this command so my vibe with Levi stays lit, says the Lord of hosts.
And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.
My agreement was all about life and peace; I handed those to him 'cause he had mad respect for me and wasn’t afraid to show it.
My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him {for} the fear wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name.
Truth was always flowing from his lips, and he wasn’t about that sus life; he rolled with me in peace and fairness, pulling people out of their shady paths.
The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity.
Priests need to keep the knowledge on lock, and they gotta seek the law from his mouth; he’s the messenger for the Lord of hosts.
For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he {is} the messenger of the LORD of hosts.
But you all have fallen off track; you made folks trip over the law and messed up Levi's agreement, says the Lord of hosts.
But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the LORD of hosts. {stumble at: or, fall in}
So I’ve made you look weak and low-key in front of everyone 'cause you didn’t keep it 100 with my ways and played favorites with the law.
Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the law. {have been...: or, lifted up the face against: Heb. accepted faces}
Aren’t we all under one Father? Didn’t one God craft us? Why are we out here betraying each other and dissing the covenant of our ancestors?
Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?
Judah’s been acting shady, and it’s a whole mess in Israel and Jerusalem; Judah dissed the holiness of the Lord he adored and married some random god’s daughter.
Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of the LORD which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god. {loved: or, ought to love}
The Lord’s gonna cut off anyone who pulls this, whether you’re a boss or a scholar, from Jacob's crew, including anyone offering to the Lord of hosts.
The LORD will cut off the man that doeth this, the master and the scholar, out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and him that offereth an offering unto the LORD of hosts. {the master...: or, him that waketh, and him that answereth}
And you keep pulling this stunt, covering the Lord’s altar with tears and feels, so much that He’s not even checking for your offerings anymore, no cap.
And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth {it} with good will at your hand.
But you’re like, “Why?” 'Cause the Lord's been watching you and your youth’s wife, whom you’ve been shady with; she’s your ride or die and the wife of your covenant.
Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet {is} she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.
Didn’t He make just one? He had the spirit left over, and why just one? To seek a godly squad. So keep it real, and don’t be shady with your youth’s wife.
And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. {residue: or, excellency} {godly...: Heb. seed of God} {treacherously: or, unfaithfully}
The Lord, the God of Israel, says He hates split-ups; one covers violence with their drip, says the Lord of hosts; so keep it in check and don’t be shady.
For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for {one} covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously. {that he...: or, if he hate her, put her away} {putting...: Heb. to put away}
You’ve worn the Lord out with your words. But you’re asking, “How?” When you say everyone doing evil is good in the Lord’s eyes, and He’s vibing with them; or, “Where’s the God of judgment?”
Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied {him}? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil {is} good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where {is} the God of judgment?
