Joshua Chapter 1
Once Moses kicked the bucket, God hit up Joshua, Moses' main homie, and said,
Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying,
"Moses is out, fam; it's time to rise up, cross this Jordan with your squad, and claim the land I'm handing to you, the children of Israel."
Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, {even} to the children of Israel.
"Every place where your feet touch? That's your territory, just as I mentioned to Moses."
Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.
"From the desert and Lebanon to the major Euphrates river, all the Hittite territory, and the epic sea where the sun sets, that's all yours."
From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.
"No one will be able to challenge you all your days; I've got your back like I did with Moses. I'm not gonna ditch you or bounce."
There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, {so} I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
"Be tough and fearless; you're about to hand out the land for this crew, just like I promised their forefathers."
Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. {unto this...: or, thou shalt cause this people to inherit the land, etc}
"Just keep it strong and super bold, and stick to all the law I handed over to Moses; don’t veer left or right, and you'll shine wherever you go."
Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it {to} the right hand or {to} the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. {prosper: or, do wisely}
"Keep this book of the law on your lips; think about it day and night so you can do everything in it; then you'll slay the game and thrive."
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. {have...: or, do wisely}
"Didn’t I drop this already? Be tough and fearless; don’t be shook or stressed, 'cause the Lord your God is rolling with you wherever you go."
Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God {is} with thee whithersoever thou goest.
So Joshua told the leaders of the crew,
Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,
"Go through the camp and let the people know to prep their food; in three days, we’re crossing this Jordan to take the land the Lord's giving us."
Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.
And to the Reubenites, Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh, Joshua said,
And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying,
"You remember what Moses laid down? The Lord your God is giving you chill time and this land."
Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, The LORD your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land.
"Your wives, kids, and livestock can hang here on this side of the Jordan, but you gotta cross with the brave warriors and support your bros."
Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side Jordan; but ye shall pass before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and help them; {armed: Heb. marshalled by five}
"Until the Lord gives your bros rest like He did for you, and they grab the land the Lord's giving them; then you can bounce back to your own land and enjoy it, which Moses hooked you up with over here."
Until the LORD have given your brethren rest, as {he hath given} you, and they also have possessed the land which the LORD your God giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the LORD'S servant gave you on this side Jordan toward the sunrising.
They hit Joshua back saying, "Whatever you tell us, we’re in, and we’ll roll wherever you send us."
And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go.
"Just like we followed Moses, we’ll back you up; just make sure the Lord your God is with you like He was with Moses."
According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee: only the LORD thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.
"Anyone who steps out of line against your command and won’t heed your words will be handled; just keep it strong and bold."
Whosoever {he be} that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.
