Job Chapter 22
So Eliphaz the Temanite was like, "Ayo, listen up, I got some thoughts to share."
Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,
Can a person really connect with God, like, is that wise guy energy even real?
Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself? {as he...: or, if he may be profitable, doth his good success depend thereon?}
Does the Almighty even give a hoot if you’re living right? Or is it just a flex for Him if you’re on point?
{Is it} any pleasure to the Almighty, that thou art righteous? or {is it} gain {to him}, that thou makest thy ways perfect?
Is He gonna call you out 'cause you’re acting sus? Or roll into judgment with you?
Will he reprove thee for fear of thee? will he enter with thee into judgment?
Your wickedness is lowkey huge, and your wrongs are off the charts, fr.
{Is} not thy wickedness great? and thine iniquities infinite?
You took a pledge from your homie for nothing and left the naked out here, no cap.
For thou hast taken a pledge from thy brother for nought, and stripped the naked of their clothing. {the naked...: Heb. the clothes of the naked}
You didn’t even hook up the tired folks with water, and you held back food from the hungry, savage.
Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.
But the strong dude had the land, and the righteous peeps were chilling there.
But {as for} the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honourable man dwelt in it. {mighty...: Heb. man of arm} {honourable...: Heb. eminent, or, accepted for countenance}
You sent widows away empty-handed, and the fatherless are straight struggling.
Thou hast sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.
So, like, traps are all around you, and sudden fear is totally messing with your vibe.
Therefore snares {are} round about thee, and sudden fear troubleth thee;
Or like, total darkness where you can’t see anything; the waters are just covering you, no cap.
Or darkness, {that} thou canst not see; and abundance of waters cover thee.
Ain’t God just chilling up high in heaven? Look at the stars, they’re lit, like, super high!
{Is} not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are! {height of the stars: Heb. head of the stars}
And you’re like, "How does God even peep this? Can He judge through all that dark cloud?"
And thou sayest, How doth God know? can he judge through the dark cloud? {How: or, What}
Thick clouds are kinda like His vibe check; He sees through it all; He’s walking in the heavenly circuit, fr.
Thick clouds {are} a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.
You peeped the ancient path where savage dudes used to roll?
Hast thou marked the old way which wicked men have trodden?
They got cut off way too soon, their foundation got wiped out by a flood, straight up.
Which were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflown with a flood: {whose...: Heb. a flood was poured upon their foundation}
They were like, "God, just bounce from us; what can the Almighty even do for them?"
Which said unto God, Depart from us: and what can the Almighty do for them? {for: or, to}
But still, He filled their cribs with solid stuff; the wicked's plans seem sus to me.
Yet he filled their houses with good {things}: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.
The righteous see what’s up and are vibing: the innocent are out here laughing at them.
The righteous see {it}, and are glad: and the innocent laugh them to scorn.
Our stuff ain't getting wrecked, but the leftovers? Fire’s totally eating them up.
Whereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire consumeth. {substance: or, estate} {the remnant...: or, their excellency}
Get to know Him, and chill; solid vibes will come your way.
Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee. {him: that is, God}
For real, take in His words and keep them close to your heart.
Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.
If you bounce back to the Almighty, He’ll lift you up and help you shake off the bad vibes.
If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles.
You’ll stack gold like it’s nothing, and Ophir’s gold will feel like pebbles.
Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the {gold} of Ophir as the stones of the brooks. {as dust: or, on the dust}
The Almighty's got your back, and you'll have mad silver, no cap.
Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver. {defence: or, gold} {plenty...: Heb. silver of strength}
Then you’ll find joy in the Almighty and look up to God.
For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.
Just pray to Him, and He’ll hear you; you’ll keep your promises.
Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows.
Speak it into existence, and it’ll happen; light will shine on your path.
Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
When people are down, you’ll be like, “There’s hope!” and He’ll save the humble.
When {men} are cast down, then thou shalt say, {There is} lifting up; and he shall save the humble person. {the humble...: Heb. him that hath low eyes}
He’ll rescue the innocent, and it’s all good thanks to your pure vibes.
He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands. {He shall...: or, The innocent shall deliver the island}
