Jeremiah Chapter 8
So God was like, "Yo, dig up the bones of Judah's kings and their whole squad from the graves, fr."
At that time, saith the LORD, they shall bring out the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his princes, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves:
They gonna lay those bones out in front of the sun, moon, and all the vibes they used to worship, but they ain't getting a burial; just straight trash on the ground, no cap.
And they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, whom they have loved, and whom they have served, and after whom they have walked, and whom they have sought, and whom they have worshipped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried; they shall be for dung upon the face of the earth.
Honestly, death’s gonna be the pick over life for the leftovers of this messed-up crew, wherever I sent them, says the Lord of hosts.
And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue of them that remain of this evil family, which remain in all the places whither I have driven them, saith the LORD of hosts.
Plus, let them know, “God’s asking, are they gonna fall and not bounce back? Are they gonna dip and not return?”
Moreover thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD; Shall they fall, and not arise? shall he turn away, and not return?
Why's this crew in Jerusalem always sliding back? They’re clinging to lies and just won’t turn around, periodt.
Why {then} is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.
I tuned in, but they weren’t dropping truth: no one’s owning their wrongs, just running wild like horses charging into the fray.
I hearkened and heard, {but} they spake not aright: no man repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth into the battle.
Even the storks know their times; the turtle and crane are on point with their arrivals; but my people don’t get the Lord’s vibe, fr.
Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the LORD.
How can you claim, “We’re wise, and we’ve got the Lord’s law with us”? Nah, that’s just flexing for nothing; the scribes are playing themselves.
How do ye say, We {are} wise, and the law of the LORD {is} with us? Lo, certainly in vain made he {it}; the pen of the scribes {is} in vain. {in vain made...: or, the false pen of the scribes worketh for falsehood}
The wise guys are shook, getting wrecked and thrown off; they tossed aside the Lord’s word, so what kind of wisdom do they even have?
The wise {men} are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom {is} in them? {The wise...: or, Have they been ashamed, etc} {what...: Heb. the wisdom of what thing}
So I'm gonna hand their wives off to others and sell their fields; everyone from the smallest to the biggest is just out here being greedy, no cap.
Therefore will I give their wives unto others, {and} their fields to them that shall inherit {them}: for every one from the least even unto the greatest is given to covetousness, from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.
They barely fixed my people’s wounds, saying, “All good, all good,” when it’s really not good at all.
For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when {there is} no peace.
Were they embarrassed about their savage ways? Nah, not at all; they won’t even blush, so they’re gonna fall with the rest when it’s time, says the Lord.
Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall: in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, saith the LORD. {I will...: or, In gathering I will consume}
I’m definitely gonna wipe them out, says the Lord: no grapes on the vine, no figs on the tree, and everything I gave them is gonna fade away.
I will surely consume them, saith the LORD: {there shall be} no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall fade; and {the things that} I have given them shall pass away from them.
Why are we just chilling? Let’s gather up and hit the fortified cities, and just be quiet there, ‘cause the Lord has us on mute and served us bitter water for our sins.
Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the defenced cities, and let us be silent there: for the LORD our God hath put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD. {gall: or, poison}
We were looking for peace, but nothing solid came; we wanted health, but look, just straight trouble!
We looked for peace, but no good {came; and} for a time of health, and behold trouble!
The sound of his horses was heard from Dan; the whole land shook from the neighing of the strong ones; they rolled in and devoured everything, even the city and its people.
The snorting of his horses was heard from Dan: the whole land trembled at the sound of the neighing of his strong ones; for they are come, and have devoured the land, and all that is in it; the city, and those that dwell therein. {all...: Heb. the fulness thereof}
For real, I’m sending snakes and wild creatures among you that can’t be tamed, and they’re gonna bite you, says the Lord.
For, behold, I will send serpents, cockatrices, among you, which {will} not {be} charmed, and they shall bite you, saith the LORD.
When I tried to comfort myself from the feels, my heart just felt weak, fr.
{When} I would comfort myself against sorrow, my heart {is} faint in me. {in: Heb. upon}
Check it, the voice of my people crying out ‘cause of those far away: Is the Lord not in Zion? Is her king not present? Why they gotta make me mad with their idols and foolishness?
Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people because of them that dwell in a far country: {Is} not the LORD in Zion? {is} not her king in her? Why have they provoked me to anger with their graven images, {and} with strange vanities? {them...: Heb. the country of them that are far off}
The harvest is done, summer’s over, and we’re still not saved, fr.
The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.
I’m hurt for my people; I’m feeling all kinds of dark; shock has taken over me, no cap.
For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt; I am black; astonishment hath taken hold on me.
Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no doctor around? So why isn’t my people’s health coming back?
{Is there} no balm in Gilead; {is there} no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered? {recovered: Heb. gone up?}
