Isaiah Chapter 5
I’m about to drop a fire track for my dude about his vineyard. My dude’s got a vineyard on this sick hill.
Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill: {a very...: Heb. the horn of the son of oil}
He threw up a fence, cleared the rocks, planted the finest vines, built a tower, and set up a winepress. He was expecting grapes, but all he got were wild grapes instead.
And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes. {fenced: or, made a wall about} {made: Heb. hewed}
Ayo, Jerusalem fam and Judah crew, let’s vibe check between me and my vineyard.
And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard.
What else could I have done for my vineyard that I didn’t? Like, I thought it would give me grapes, but it’s just wild grapes?
What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?
Alright, check this out; I’m about to spill the tea on my vineyard: I’ll knock down the fence, and it’ll get wrecked; I’ll break the wall, and it’ll get stomped.
And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; {and} break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down: {trodden...: Heb. for a treading}
I’m gonna leave it all busted: no trimming, no digging; just thorns and briers popping up. I’ll even tell the clouds to chill and not rain on it.
And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.
The vineyard of the Lord is the house of Israel, and Judah is his top plant: he wanted justice, but all he peeped was oppression; he wanted righteousness, but all he heard was cries.
For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts {is} the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry. {his...: Heb. plant of his pleasures} {oppression: Heb. a scab}
For real, big yikes to those who stack houses and fields until there’s no room left, just to flex in the middle of nowhere!
Woe unto them that join house to house, {that} lay field to field, till {there be} no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth! {they: Heb. ye}
Fr, the Lord of hosts said, “No cap, many houses are gonna be empty, even the fancy ones, with nobody living in them.”
In mine ears {said} the LORD of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, {even} great and fair, without inhabitant. {In...: or, This is in mine ears, saith the LORD, etc} {Of a...: Heb. If not, etc}
For real, ten acres of vineyard will only yield one bath, and a homer's seed will just give an ephah.
Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of an homer shall yield an ephah.
Yo, watch out for those who wake up mad early just to chase drinks; they keep it going till night when the wine hits different!
Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, {that} they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, {till} wine inflame them! {inflame: of, pursue}
They got harps, viols, and wine at their parties, but they totally ignore what God’s doing, like, sus vibes.
And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands.
So, my crew’s struggling 'cause they ain’t got the wisdom; their top peeps are starving, and everyone’s thirsty, fr.
Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because {they have} no knowledge: and their honourable men {are} famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst. {honourable...: Heb. glory are men of famine}
For real, hell’s getting bigger and just opening its mouth wide; all their glory and hype are gonna drop right in there.
Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.
The average Joe’s gonna get knocked down, and even the strong ones will be humbled; the high and mighty will get the wake-up call.
And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:
But the Lord’s gonna flex in judgment, and God’s holiness is gonna shine in righteousness, periodt.
But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness. {God...: or, the holy God: Heb. the God the holy}
Then the little lambs will chill and eat like they should, while outsiders feast on the leftovers from the big ones.
Then shall the lambs feed after their manner, and the waste places of the fat ones shall strangers eat.
Yo, woe to those who pull in sin like it’s a vibe, using vanity like a rope, no cap.
Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope:
They’re like, “Hurry up, God! Show us what’s popping!” and want the Holy One of Israel to roll through so they can see it!
That say, Let him make speed, {and} hasten his work, that we may see {it}: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know {it}!
Woe to those who flip the script, calling bad good and good bad; they swap light for dark and sweet for bitter, that’s just wild!
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! {call...: Heb. say concerning evil, It is good, etc}
Yo, major red flag for those who think they’re all that and wise in their own vibe.
Woe unto {them that are} wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! {in their own sight: Heb. before their face}
Major no cap for those who can down wine like champs and mix up the strong stuff.
Woe unto {them that are} mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:
They’re out here justifying the sus moves for cash, taking away the good from the good peeps!
Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
So, like, fire's gonna consume the weak stuff, and their roots will be straight up trash, 'cause they ditched God's law and dissed the Holy One’s word.
Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, {so} their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel. {fire: Heb. tongue of fire}
For real, God’s got beef with His crew, and He’s throwing down hard; the hills shook and their bodies were everywhere. But still, His anger ain't chillin’, His hand's still out.
Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases {were} torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand {is} stretched out still. {torn: or, as dung}
He’s gonna flex an ensign for the nations way out there, and they’ll come in hot, no cap.
And he will lift up an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth: and, behold, they shall come with speed swiftly:
Nobody’s gonna be tired or trip; no one’s snoozing or slacking; their gear’s all tight, no loose ends.
None shall be weary nor stumble among them; none shall slumber nor sleep; neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed, nor the latchet of their shoes be broken:
Their arrows are sharp, bows are ready, and their horses are like stone, wheels spinning like a whirlwind.
Whose arrows {are} sharp, and all their bows bent, their horses' hoofs shall be counted like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind:
Their roar's like a lion, coming in fierce; they’ll grab the prey and take it safe, no one’s snatching it back.
Their roaring {shall be} like a lion, they shall roar like young lions: yea, they shall roar, and lay hold of the prey, and shall carry {it} away safe, and none shall deliver {it}.
On that day, they’ll roar like the sea, and if you peep the land, it’s all dark and sad, light’s totally gone from the skies.
And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea: and if {one} look unto the land, behold darkness {and} sorrow, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof. {sorrow: or, distress} {and the light...: or, when it is light, it shall be dark in the destructions thereof}
